A beautiful mid-December day was the perfect time to catch up with the host course for the PGA TOUR’s ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, as Play Golf Myrtle Beach’s Jim Maggio took to the skies to get some new perspective shots of The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. Tom Fazio’s list of accomplishments is lengthy and his two Myrtle Beach golf courses, TPC Myrtle Beach and the Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort, certainly helped burnish his lofty reputation. Both layouts have been ranked among “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” by Golf Digest and have served as the centerpiece of countless golf trips.

Up and down the Grand Strand this fall, the Myrtle Beach golf scene has put its best foot forward in compelling fashion. And if you seek the perfect setting to satisfy your golden hour golf fix this time of year, look no further than at Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club in Pawleys Island.

Play Golf Myrtle Beach’s Jim Maggio visited Wednesday to capture some late-day aerial imagery along the Jack Nicklaus design’s renowned marshland holes. He couldn’t have asked for a better welcome!

The $93.5 million, 50,000-square-foot expansion to concourse A at Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) took just 17 months to complete. The first steel was set on Dec. 2, 2024, nearly one year to the day before the Dec. 1, 2025 ribbon cutting.

“We are just thrilled that this project was able to come in at about six weeks under time and about $4.5 million under budget,” said Judi Olmstead, Horry County’s Director of Airports.

Breeze Airways will offer a new nonstop flight from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip, N.Y., to Myrtle Beach starting in spring 2026, according to multiple news reports from Long Island media and an announcement from Grand Strand airport officials.
