Classic Chronicles – Saturday, 5:45 pm: Watching Tyler Hubbard from Above
The rain continued its on-and-off presence through the Classic’s early evening hours as country music star Tyler Hubbard took the stage tonight in the Publix Fan Zone. Play Golf Myrtle Beach’s Jim Maggio captured some quick aerial images between the raindrops.

Classic Chronicles – Saturday, 3:52 pm: Another “Full Field Worthy” Vote for The Dunes Club
Count clubhouse leader Carson Young (-13 overall after today’s 7-under 64) as part of a growing chorus of ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic players who’ve not only loved their Dunes Club playing experience, but voiced their support for the Classic becoming a full-field event.
“Absolutely,” Carson said in his post-round media center remarks. “I think this is honestly one of the better golf courses we play out here on TOUR. It’s probably in my top 10 for sure.
‘”I’ve talked to a lot of guys who have said the same thing. They’re surprised that this golf course is hosting an opposite field event just for how pure it is and how much fun it is to play.
“I think it’s an awesome golf course, and pleasantly surprised coming here last year to see how awesome this place is because I had never played here before.” ...

Classic Chronicles – Saturday, 1:55 pm: The Club 18 Perspective
A light rain’s falling right now – not nearly enough to halt play, mind you. So if you have Club 18 access and want the option of both open-air and covered space for viewing the action, this is the place to be right now.
Here we show you the wraparound viewing options it offers, from the open-air deck facing all of Hole 10, to another open-air deck with a split perspective revealing Hole 10 the right and 18 to the left, and the covered option for catching all the approach shots coming into 18. ...

Classic Chronicles – Saturday, 9 am: Collaboration is Key
As players arrived at the Dunes Club practice range yesterday morning, tournament officials found themselves in an unexpected bind.
The range was running precariously low on tees – specifically, 2 ¾ inch length.
The ideal quantity to replenish: about 10,000.
Time needed: now.
Classic teamwork kicked into gear. Instantly.
Tournament officials got with Dunes Club Director of Golf Dennis Nicholl, who reached out to Colleen Carnucci at the Myrtle Beach Golf Course Owners Association to issue an APB to its base. Colleen immediately sent an email to MBGCOA membership (100+ recipients).
Within minutes the request reached the team at Golf Tourism Solutions, which oversees Play Golf Myrtle Beach and promotes the brand with the daily support of MBAGCOA member courses. GTS had a large shipment of Play Golf Myrtle Beach tees it has been distributing throughout the spring to courses for them to share, in turn, with their legions of visiting golfers.
GTS had the quantity needed. They sent the requisite quantity of these beauties from North Myrtle Beach straight to the practice range.
Issue solved.
And as players arrived early Saturday to prep for Round 3, they were greeted with this healthy supply.
We love it when a plan – and a brand, and a community that makes that brand “The Golf Capital of the World” – come together.

Classic Chronicles – Friday, 2:40 p.m.: Jackson Byrd in Position to Make Cut in PGA TOUR Debut, with Dad on the Cut Line
With his 3-under score through 36 holes, Jackson Byrd of Saint Simons Island, Georgia is in line to make a quantum leap in competitive achievement.
Less than three weeks ago, Byrd was standing on the 18th green at True Blue Golf Club just 30 miles down the road with his Frederica Academy high school teammates, celebrating his team’s win and his runner-up individual finish in the 2025 Keiser University College of Golf Palmetto Championship.
Today, he’s in the clubhouse with a strong chance of making the cut in his first-ever PGA TOUR event.
Just a few tee times ahead of him, five-time PGA TOUR winner Jonathan Byrd finished his second round at 1-under, hovering around the cut line with a chance of joining his son for weekend competition at The Dunes Club.
Jonathan is a South Carolina native and Clemson graduate, while amateur Jackson enrolls this fall as a freshman at Clemson. Father and son were awarded special exemptions this week into the 132-player field. Now, the Byrd Family hopes to be celebrating Mother’s Day Weekend together at the golf course.

Classic Chronicles – Friday, 1:21 pm: Higgs Surges to Clubhouse Lead
Gregarious and hilarious. Two terms often associated with Harry Higgs. But two rounds into the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, Higgs is showing he’s also got some serious game.
And after topping his opening round 67 with a 5-under 66 in Friday’s Round 2, no one’s laughing at the clubhouse leader’s chances of taking home the trophy come Sunday afternoon.
Higgs was not in much of a joking mood by his second hole yesterday. On that par-4 11th, he had what he felt was a quality three-shot sequence that deserved a lot better than an 11-foot putt for par. Higgs almost let himself slip into “woe is me” mode.
But he made that par putt. And it proved a reassuring turning point, setting the stage for birdies on four of his next six holes.
“I don’t know if I would have been standing here (today) if I didn’t make that putt,” said a relieved Higgs in today’s post-Round 2 press session. “It was nice to see that go in, and then really it was pretty easy after that.”
Higgs has posted three wins on the Korn Ferry Tour, with two of those coming in May 2024 to boost him to exempt TOUR status for this season. A win Sunday would be his first ever on the PGA TOUR.
