3 Most Challenging Holes at Long Bay: “Ask the Pro” with Jason Jackson

Jack Nicklaus designs are renowned for the distinct challenges they offer, and nowhere along the North Strand of The Golf Capital of the World® is this element more prevalent than at Long Bay Golf Club.

For this edition of “Ask the Pro” we checked in with Jason Jackson, General Manager and Head Golf Professional at Long Bay, for his thoughts on the three holes there that he considers its most challenging:

No. 4 – “This is the no. 1 handicap hole for a reason,” says Jackson. “It’s been newly renovated with water and a fairway bunker now down the left-hand side of the hole. The green surround was redone as well with runoff areas on both sides.”

No. 18 – “This hole’s challenges are both the water down the entire right-hand side of the hole and the green complex.  Any kind of shot to the right could end up in Bear Lake, hit the fairway and the challenge is not over. The green is multi-tiered, with a bunker short right, and Bear Lake is still an issue.”

No. 17 – “This is the longest of our par 3s. Not only is the hole long but the green surface is very large, and the entire left-hand side is protected by multiple bunkers. If you hit the green a two-putt is not a given, considering the size and various levels on the green.”
