Breaking Par

The challenge turns up a notch this episode as “The Big Timer” takes on the par-5 2nd hole at the Tom Fazio/Lanny Wadkins-designed TPC Myrtle Beach, the host site of many national- and global-scale events at the junior, collegiate and professional levels.

It’s Charlie’s second stop in the Mike Strantz Lowcountry showcase tour: the famed finishing hole at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island. And this renowned par 4 offers far more than stunning scenery, as anyone who’s ever had Caledonia’s back porch gallery cheer or jeer their approach shot will attest. Let’s see if “The Big Timer” can bounce back from his True Blue bogey with a red number instead!

Time for Charlie to take on “The Maverick”! In the first of back-to-back episodes featuring Mike Strantz’s renowned South Strand designs, “The Big Timer” is at True Blue Golf Club’s par-4 18th hole. It’s one of the iconic finishing holes in Myrtle Beach golf, and Charlie’s ready to go low. Will he post a red number here?

We’re checking in at the South Strand’s “House That Jack Built”: Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club, the celebrated Jack Nicklaus design that’s getting a facelift and a redesign of several holes in 2023. One that’s remaining fundamentally unchanged is its par-5 14th, the hole where Charlie’s trying to break par this week. How will he fare?
