2024 GOLFBUDDY Veterans Classic at Long Bay

More than 900 military veterans from throughout the United States and its territories have descended upon the Grand Strand golf scene for a week of competition and camaraderie, as the GOLFBUDDY Veterans Classic tees it up this week from 20 Myrtle Beach-area courses.

The two-person team event is built around fellowship and honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. It features 928 players (894 men and 34 women) from 45 states, Canada and overseas, with at least one person on each team having served in the United States Military. Armed forces branch representation is led this year by the U.S. Army with 283 participants, followed by the Air Force (177), Navy (125), Marine Corps (80), National Guard (20) and Coast Guard (18).

All players compete in one of eight flights (Eisenhower, Franks, Lemay, MacArthur, Nimitz, Taylor, Vandegrift and Westmoreland), each named in honor of prominent past military leaders.

Monday’s first-round action (best ball) teed off from The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University, International Club of Myrtle Beach, SouthCreek at Myrtle Beach National, Meadowlands, Long Bay, Blackmoor, Litchfield Country Club and the Jones Course at Sea Trail. Tuesday’s second-round Texas scramble moved to Wachesaw Plantation East, Thistle, Founders Club at Pawleys Island, Burning Ridge, Eagle Nest, Long Bay, River Hills and Prestwick, while Wednesday’s final round (scramble) wraps up play at Rivers Edge, The Hackler Course, Long Bay, Tradition Club, Wild Wing-Avocet, Arcadian Shores, Arrowhead and Wachesaw East.

The Veterans Classic is powered for a fourth consecutive year by event title sponsor GOLFBUDDY, a leading innovator in the golf rangefinder industry with a primary goal to provide the most accurate and innovative golf rangefinders in the market. They are joined by presenting sponsor PGA TOUR Superstore in supporting the efforts of Golf Tourism Solutions’ Events Division in conducting the 2024 event, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Project Golf – a nonprofit organization dedicated to growing the game and using it as a therapeutic means of aiding disabled veterans through its PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) initiative.
