From Brunswick County, N.C. to the south end of the Grand Strand, you’ll find several layouts that share the common trait of course architecture partnership: two designers instead of one. Join us for a quick journey to learn more about five such designs to include in an upcoming visit to The Golf Capital of the World®!
We’ll start on the north end at The Links at Brick Landing, which offers terrific views and a challenging round for golfers of all skill levels. This recently renovated links style course was built in 1987 and features new Sunday Ultradwarf Bermuda greens. The scenic Mike Brazeal/Dan Maples collab sits on the banks of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), where spectacular sunrises and sunsets are the perfect way to either start your morning round or wrap up late-afternoon play.

Continuing south, our next stop is at The Avocet Course at Wild Wing, which debuted in the early 1990s as part of a sprawling 72-hole complex that has since downsized to a 27-hole facility featuring the Avocet 18 and Hummingbird nine. With Avocet, the team of Jeff Brauer and three-time major champ Larry Nelson delivered a “rock & roll”-style layout here that’s among the Grand Strand’s most creative and memorable featuring drivable par 4s, double greens, dual fairways and mounding galore.
Heading back toward the beach and just off Hwy. 501, Arrowhead Country Club returns you to a popular ICW setting where Tom Jackson and Raymond Floyd offer 27 holes of premium conditioning and a stern test to your game. The aptly named Waterway nine features holes 4 through 6 playing into, along and away from the ICW, with the Cypress nine offering its quirky par-4 4th for added waterside adventure.

We’ll keep it in the family at your next stop, Prestwick Country Club, where the father-son team of Pete and P.B. Dye serves up a challenge like no other you’ll find in Myrtle Beach golf – and a layout most succinctly described as “quintessential Dye.” In typical Dye design fashion, each nine features a concluding hole that flanks a sprawling lake as you hit the turn and head back to the clubhouse.
The final leg of this tag-team journey brings you to Murrells Inlet, where TPC Myrtle Beach awaits. The renowned Tom Fazio/Lanny Wadkins design has hosted a wide array of high-profile competitions over the years including the Senior TOUR Championship, the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship, “The Q at Myrtle Beach” and even an NCAA Championship regional. On your visit you’ll enjoy lush, wall-to-wall green conditions at any time of year you visit, and a test to your game that’s unrivaled along the Grand Strand.
