Charlie Rymer Visits Bummz Beach Cafe

Smack dab in the middle of Myrtle Beach sits Bummz Beach Cafe. We took Charlie Rymer there to check out the views, food and even a few of their signature cocktails!

Charlie Rymer:
So I’ve had a tough morning on the golf course. It’s early afternoon. Time to wet the whistle, and I am at a great place to do that. This is Bummz, B-U-M-M-Z, and if you look at Myrtle Beach, it’s 70 miles top to bottom. We are right in the middle at the 35-mile mark. And I’m joined by a long-time fixture here, Jeff Spencer. You’ve been here a long time haven’t you, Jeff?

Jeff Spencer:
Yeah, I’ve been looking at this pretty view for 15 years.

Charlie Rymer:
Oh, that’s tough. That’s a tough gig.

Jeff Spencer:
It’s tough. I know, sorry about that (Not sorry!).

Charlie Rymer:
I’ve got to tell you, so I’m relaxed a little bit. As I mentioned, it’s time to wet the whistle. When I come to Bummz and I’m thirsty, what do I need to order?

Jeff Spencer:
Everybody loves the Beach Relief. You come off the-

Charlie Rymer:
Beach Relief, that’s the name of the drink? Let’s get some of that Beach Relief in here. So what’s in that Beach Relief?

Jeff Spencer:
Well, you have a raspberry vodka. You have coconut rum, pineapple juice, a little grenadine, so it’s pretty, a squeeze of orange.

Charlie Rymer:
Speaking of pretty.

Speaker 3:
Beach Relief and the Miami Vice.

Charlie Rymer:
Miami Vice?

Jeff Spencer:
Yeah, it’s one of my dangerous concoctions.

Charlie Rymer:
Okay, so it looks like that’s your favorite. She set that down in front of you. What are we dealing with here?

Jeff Spencer:
Well, I call it “99 problems and the Beach Ain’t One.”

Charlie Rymer:
What you got in there?

Jeff Spencer:
My rule, it’s a Miami Vice, instead of rum I use a 99 proof banana liqueur.

Charlie Rymer:
Okay.

Jeff Spencer:
And a little bit of pineapple to bring out the flavor, but it’s beautiful.

Charlie Rymer:
Okay, man, I know you’re on the job, but you can have a little sip though I bet.

Jeff Spencer:
[inaudible 00:01:47].

Charlie Rymer:
Man, that is good.

Jeff Spencer:
Cheers.

Charlie Rymer:
I’m forgetting about that three-putt on 18 already.

Jeff Spencer:
I know. That’s good for the whistle.

Charlie Rymer:
After one or more of these I’m going to get a little bit hungry.

Jeff Spencer:
Yeah.

Charlie Rymer:
What do I need to order up? What’s the one thing I need to order here at Bummz?

Jeff Spencer:
You have to have the grouper fingers.

Charlie Rymer:
You talked me into it.

Jeff Spencer:
You’ve got to have the grouper fingers.

Charlie Rymer:
Fresh, probably local grouper?

Jeff Spencer:
Local, fresh, lightly breaded, it’s beautiful.

Charlie Rymer:
A little bit of Texas Pete on there. Does that work for you?

Jeff Spencer:
Oh yeah, throw some Texas Pete on there.

Charlie Rymer:
Little tartar sauce.

Jeff Spencer:
A nice tartar sauce. We get little petal sauce that comes with it. It’s gorgeous.

Charlie Rymer:
I can tell after 15 years here you’ve got no stress at all. I want that to be contagious.

Jeff Spencer:
It’s island time, baby.

Charlie Rymer:
Jeff, appreciate your time. Thank you.

Jeff Spencer:
The pleasure’s mine.

Charlie Rymer:
Come on and see Jeff at Bummz if you’re ever in the area. Remember, we’re right in the middle of Myrtle Beach.
