A major champion, a returning champion and a nine-time winner on the PGA TOUR are among the 132 golfers who will begin play Thursday (May 8) at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic.
The ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, which is entering its second year as a PGA TOUR event at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club, is sponsored jointly by Visit Myrtle Beach and ONEflight International, a private jet company based in Denver.
The major champion in the field is Francesco Molinari, who captured the 2016 Open Championship. Also playing is Brandt Snedeker, a nine-time winner on the PGA TOUR, who was just named captain of the U.S. team for the Presidents Cup in 2026.
Another recognizable figure will be Chris Gotterup, who won the initial Classic event by six strokes and finished at 22 under par. He was one of seven players who won on the PGA TOUR since playing in Myrtle Beach last May. Three of those players return: Gotterup, Harry Hall and Davis Riley.
Blades Brown also returns after an impressive showing as a 16-year-old amateur who was playing for his high school team in Nashville last May. He finished tied for 26th at 10 under par. This time, he will be playing as a professional.
There is also a father and son in the field, with Jonathan Byrd, a five-time winner on the PGA TOUR, returning and being joined by his son Jackson, who is entering his freshman year at Clemson University.
These players are joined by four golfers who earned their way through the event’s open qualifying round held Monday at TPC Myrtle Beach, where Austin Duncan (-7) set the pace followed by George Duangmanee (-6), Randall Hudson (-6) and Zach Reuland (-5).
Also qualifying at TPC Myrtle Beach was Nathan Franks, winner of The Q at Myrtle Beach that was also hosted recently at the Tom Fazio/Lanny Wadkins signature design. Franks’ win in The Q was revealed in Monday’s dramatic YouTube premiere presented by Play Golf Myrtle Beach and PGA TOUR Studios.
