It’s “Final Fore” Time in the Myrtle Beach Golf Course Designer Bracket Challenge

We started with 32 and are down to four as Arnold Palmer, Mike Strantz, Tom Fazio and Jack Nicklaus remain in contention to take home the championship as they enter the “Final Fore” round of our inaugural Myrtle Beach Golf Course Designer Bracket Challenge.

In one semifinal matchup, it’s “The King” vs. “The Maverick” as Palmer’s design expertise in creating Grand Strand standouts Rivers Edge and the three courses at Myrtle Beach National Golf Club (King’s North, SouthCreek and West Course) goes against Strantz’s masterpiece work at South Strand tracks Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club.

Our other semifinal matchup features “The Golden Bear” vs. “Dynamite Tom” as Nicklaus’ design work on each end of the Grand Strand (Long Bay Golf Club to the north, and Pawleys Plantation to the south) squares off against Fazio’s work at Barefoot Resort & Golf’s Fazio Course and TPC Myrtle Beach.

Palmer, Strantz, Nicklaus and Fazio advanced after Wednesday’s “Exceptional 8” Instagram voting wins over Pete Dye (Barefoot Resort’s Dye Course), Dan Maples (Heritage Club, Man O’ War, Oyster Bay, Sandpiper Bay, Sea Trail-Maples Course, The Pearl, The Witch, The Wizard, Willbrook), Willard Byrd (Brunswick Plantation, Farmstead, International Club, Litchfield, Lockwood Folly, Lion’s Paw, Meadowlands, Sea Trail-Byrd Course) and Robert Trent Jones (The Dunes Golf & Beach Club), respectively.
