“Friday Night Lights” Add a Great Post-Round Entertainment Option This Fall

Golf and football have always gone together quite naturally – whether you’re looking for a golf morning and gridiron-filled afternoon, or an afternoon on the links capped by your prime time football matchup of choice.

The Grand Strand brings no shortage of ways to follow the college or NFL action. You can catch FBS school Coastal Carolina in person at 21,000-seat Brooks Stadium, and sports bars throughout our 60-mile stretch offer great Clemson, South Carolina and other college game-watching options. Sundays in Myrtle Beach boast many venues catering to NFL fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers, Washington Redskins and many more.

Can’t get enough football on Saturday or Sunday? “Friday Night Lights” shine brightly along the Grand Strand, too. With four Myrtle Beach-area high school football teams currently ranked in South Carolina’s statewide polls, why not add Friday nights to your football mix while you’re in town for your next golf trip?

With Myrtle Beach (ranked No. 1 in South Carolina Class 4A), North Myrtle Beach (No. 3 in 4A), Aynor (No. 10 in 3A) and Green Sea Floyds (no. 1 in 1A) leading the way, there’s no shortage of top prep gridiron talent on display along the Grand Strand in any given week this fall. And with a fifth team close to cracking the rankings in the state’s largest class (5A) comes a nationally televised matchup of elite high school quarterbacks.

Led by South Carolina commit Luke Doty, Myrtle Beach heads across town this Friday to visit rival Carolina Forest, a 5A school boasting a high-profile gunslinger of its own in Mason Garcia (committed to East Carolina). Doty is the nation’s fourth-ranked dual-threat quarterback and Garcia the 21st-ranked pro-style quarterback, according to 247Sports.com.

How big is this matchup? Thousands will be in attendance, and Stadium Network is providing live national television coverage with kickoff set for 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20.

Whether it’s NFL, college or high school football you prefer, there’s never been a better time to combine your love of golf and football as part of your Second Season getaway!
