Highlights from Hall of Fame Induction Night for Dustin Johnson and Hootie & the Blowfish

Join us for a video recap of the events of a magical night where some of Myrtle Beach golf’s most impactful supporters – world number one golfer Dustin Johnson and Grammy Award-winning recording artists Hootie & the Blowfish – were honored for their lifetime efforts with enshrinement into the Myrtle Beach Golf Hall of Fame.

Bill Golden (Emcee): It is my pleasure to introduce Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, Darius Rucker, and Jim Sonefeld. Hootie & the Blowfish.

Bill Golden (Emcee): Ladies and gentlemen, the number one golfer in the world, Dustin Johnson.

Charlie Rymer (Interviewer): You guys are going into the Hall of Fame here tonight. What does that mean to you?

Jim “Soni” Sonefeld: For me, being here in Myrtle Beach, this is one of the first places that these guys dragged me out to golf, back in the day, when we just had a van and we’re driving out playing small gigs, we golfed a lot. And this is one of the places that we always were sure to get in a golf round before the gig that night.

Dean Felber: You know, it’s based off since we started hanging out and it’s like Soni said, when we were on the road it was the savior, to get us outside and kind of get some sanity on the day.

Mark Bryan: It’s that hole “keeps you coming back” thing, because every now and then I’ll flush one and feel like I’m Dustin Johnson in that moment, (it) keeps you coming back, as they say, no question about it. And, I’ve played sports all my life, this is one that I’ll be able to play until I’m old. I can play with both of my parents, I can play with my kids. There’s just nothing not to love about golf.

Dustin Johnson: As you all know I’m a professional golfer not a professional speaker, so this will be short and sweet. I really want to thank all of you guys for coming out and I’m very proud to be inducted into the Myrtle Beach (Golf) Hall of Fame. Myrtle Beach has been huge part of my career, living here, Coach (Allen) Terrell, and I’m very humbled and I’m honored just to be able to give back to the community that I felt like I almost kind of grew up in. I’m proud to stand here in front of you guys and hopefully I can continue to make you all proud.
