5 Great Myrtle Beach Restaurants that won't break the bank

But that’s what we are here for. Myrtle Beach proper is full of outstanding restaurants. These five come highly recommended by locals, and they won’t break the bank!

  • Located just across from Myrtlewood Golf Club, Capriccio is an Italian eatery that is one of the area’s best. If you want a nice sit down meal, the recently expanded restaurant is ideal, but if you are tired from a long day on the course, place a pickup order on the way home. The most expensive item on the menu is shrimp scampi ($22.95), but the calzone and pizzas are excellent.
  • The best sandwich in Myrtle Beach? You’d be hard-pressed to find one better than the offerings at Dagwood’s, located on Mr. Joe White Avenue. The bread is made fresh and is the key to the sandwich. Then again, the generous portions of meat are nice, too. Recommendations: the Italian or the Lynn Swann Dipper, which features turkey, roast beef, melted Swiss cheese and bacon bits. Yes, it’s as good as it sounds.
  • If you are staying and/or playing along 501, don’t miss Handley’s Pub & Grub tucked away in Carolina Forest. Happy hour is outstanding but the place isn’t just about beer specials and appetizers. My recommendation: the $9.99 mega burger with 8 ounces of blackened, ground beef, topped with cheddar cheese, sautéed onions, mushrooms, bacon and a fried egg.
  • Johnny D’s Waffles and Bakery stays open through lunch, and I’d highly recommend a visit. As the name suggests, Johnny D’s specializes in breakfast. Don’t misinterpret, lunch is very good, but the restaurant has exploded in popularity because of meals like the pork belly benedict and the red velvet waffles, which are drizzled with cream cheese icing and cinnamon sugar.
  • Sometimes you are looking for a lot of food, that will exceed expectations, and you want it quickly, in which case Simply Southern, a barbecue buffet is the place to go. Far from the seemingly endless stream canned vegetables and dry meat that some buffets feature, Simply Southern’s food is homemade and it shows. The mac and cheese, sweet potato casserole, peach cobbler and, of course, the barbecue are outstanding. You will leave full and happy.

If you are looking for a good, fairly inexpensive meal while on your next Myrtle Beach golf trip, these restaurants will deliver.
