Myrtle Beach Golf Hole of the Week: Don’t Drive By, Stop In

May 30, 2017

The 15th at Indian Wells is one of the course's best
Which leads us to this: It’s time for you to stop driving by and stop in. You won’t be disappointed.

Indian Wells, which is always in outstanding shape, isn’t exceedingly long, playing just over 6,624 yards from the tips, but it can challenge the best of golfers.

The layout features tree-lined fairways and water on the nine of the final 10 holes, highlighted by our Myrtle Beach Golf Hole of the Week.

No. 15
Par:

Yardage: 484 yards (blue tees), 458 yards (white tees), 433 yards (yellow tees), 356 yards (red tees)
Handicap: 3

All you need to know about the par 5 15th is that it plays just 484 yards from the tips and is the No. 3 handicap. The reasons for the hole's difficulty are immediately visible from the tee: a large lake runs up the entire left side of the fairway and the hole is tight.

The landing areas are small and anything that goes left is wet. What is a golfer to do?

The hole plays just 458 yards from the white tees, so the green, which backs up to the road, is accessible in two for long hitters. But if you go for it, there is little room to miss.

Smart players will place an emphasis on getting their tee shot in play. It doesn't matter if you hit driver, 3-wood or a hybrid – the hole isn't that long, so finding the fairway is vital.

Do that and you are positioned for success; miss and a big number could await.

After negotiating your drive, laying up is the play but as you get closer to the green, the fairway bottlenecks so don't push it. Leave yourself a comfortable distance to the slightly elevated green and try to one putt for that elusive birdie.

The 15th at Indian Wells is a hole you have likely seen, now it's time to play it.
