Myrtle Beach PGA Patriots Prepared For 100-Hole, Folds of Honor Fundraiser

August 31, 2017

Jimmy Biggs leads the Myrtle Beach PGA PatriotsFast forward to Labor Day Weekend 2017, and few people have worked harder than Biggs and his team of Myrtle Beach PGA Patriots, which now includes 18 members.

What began as a one-day fundraiser will be a three-day event, beginning with a dinner on Friday, September 1 at Crow Creek and culminating with a 100-hole marathon by the Myrtle Beach PGA Patriots at Rivers Edge and an after party on Sunday, September 3. The public is invited to attend the 100-hole marathon and cheer them on.

On Saturday, the Patriots will play the “Battle For Glory,” a Ryder Cup-style scramble pitting the Stars vs. the Stripes teams.

Folds of Honor is an official partner of the PGA, and the Patriots, who raised a more than admirable $90,000 during their first three years, have taken things up another notch. Soliciting donations – primarily via social media – the group has pledges for more than $60,000 this year, and that is before money is raised via a silent auction at the Friday evening dinner and pledges for various accomplishments during the 100-hole marathon, variables that could push the total in excess of $70,000.

Biggs has received commitments for more than $17,000 and Matt Biddington has more than $10,000, helping make the Myrtle Beach Patriots one of the most successful PGA groups in the nation.

As for that 100-hole marathon, it will start at 6 a.m. at the Arnold Palmer-designed Rivers Edge and hopes to conclude by 6 p.m., a grueling day that has caused trepidation in at least one participant.

“I’m not looking forward to that per se,” Biddington said with a laugh. “Personally, I’m about 25 percent worried about the 100 holes, but according to Jimmy, the first 18 you are a little amped up, the last 18 you get more amped up and the middle holes your body just goes numb.”

While playing 100 holes will be a physically demanding task, it’s one Biddington and the Myrtle Beach PGA Patriots are clearly looking forward to.
