Thursday’s Round 4 play wrapped up a festive, fast-paced week of tournament play at the 2023 Short Par 4 Fall Classic in Myrtle Beach as flights competed in a Captain’s Choice scramble format at six courses, including Thistle, Caledonia, Tradition, Grande Dunes Resort Course, Rivers Edge and River Club.
A full field of 670 players from 37 states and Canada, traveling from as far away as Hawaii, participated in the 2023 edition of this popular season-ending competition.
The Short Par 4 Fall Classic was contested as a two-person team event over four rounds, with daily formats varying by round (Round 1 Best Ball, Round 2 Texas Scramble-Combined Score, Round 3 Best Ball, and Round 4 Scramble/”Captain’s Choice”). Scoring was based on net results using a percentage of each player’s handicap.
Short Par 4 gift cards were issued as prizes to the event’s top finishers, with each member of the first-place tandem from each flight receiving a $300 gift card. Second- and third-place team members each received $150 and $75 gift cards, respectively.
As part of their entry fee that included four rounds of golf, each player also received a TR2 Range Finder courtesy of Short Par 4, commemorative accessory, a $50 restaurant group gift card with Homegrown Hospitality, a sleeve of Titleist Pro V1 golf balls, and a post-tournament luncheon where awards and random drawing prizes were distributed.
