Faithful event participants Broderick Arnold of Fayetteville, Georgia and the Doolittle Family from Fairfield, Connecticut were honored with the 2025 Father of the Year and Family of the Year awards at a fun-filled Family Golf Night at Barefoot Resort for the 28th Annual Family Golf Week in Myrtle Beach.
More than 800 players from 40 states are calling the Grand Strand home this week as they take part in Family Golf Week. Participants are competing as two-person teams in both the Father & Son Team Classic and Family Team Classic. As the world’s largest father/son golf event, the Father & Son Team Classic has always placed an emphasis on family bonds, particularly those created through memorable events and fun competition. After 17 years of strictly fathers and sons, the tournament committee expanded to the Family Golf Week setup.
Starting in 2018, the Family Golf Week team combined the Mother & Daughter Team Classic and the Father & Daughter Team Classic into one event that encompasses all familial relationships: the Parent & Child Team Classic, which this year has been renamed the Family Team Classic. These are now two separate tournaments that allow the entire family to take part in this longstanding family tradition.
The Fazio and Dye courses at Barefoot Resort & Golf, Crow Creek, Pine Lakes, Rivers Edge, Shaftesbury Glen, Sea Trail-Byrd Course and The Pearl are hosting rounds each day of a 54-hole event that began Thursday and concludes Saturday. Two-person Best Ball (Thursday), Modified Alternate Shot (Friday) and Captain’s Choice (Saturday) and formats are in place for each day of play.
Each entrant receives a gift bag that includes a $50 Family Golf Week Gift Card, top-of-the-line polos, tees, and hats from Ahead, one dozen golf balls, socks and golf glove from FootJoy, commemorative bag tag, logoed koozie, logoed poker chip ball marker, logoed bracelet, and a pair of 2UNDR sports briefs – collectively representing a more than $300 value in the gift bag alone.
