I just want to go out, play good golf, and not sit in the car afterwards just hating myself. That’s my biggest golf dream, to alleviate the self-loathing that I feel.
I grew up playing golf in Preston, which is in the northwest of the UK. It was introduced by my dad. I was always much more into playing football, and I got into playing football and I couldn’t play golf, and I actually missed golf more.
You grow up dreaming of playing in these events, and it’s only one round, as well. That’s the beauty of this. Other qualifying events that I tend to go through it’s multiple rounds. You’ve got to play well consistently. If you have one fantastic round, that’s what is separating you from the PGA TOUR, and that’s a very special and unique thing.
I’m Peter Finch, I’m from Preston in the United Kingdom. I don’t have a home course as I’ve been banned from them all, and hopefully, the only thing I won’t shoot tomorrow is myself.
If I can putt well, I know the rest of my game’s there. Yeah, if just a couple of key putts can drop, then I really feel like I can do well. So that’s the key for me.
I grew up playing golf at Littlehampton Golf Club in the Southeast of England. Yeah, just loved it, being out there in the fresh air and playing. It was really fun. And then, yeah, just really fell in love with it from then on.
And my coach actually called me and told me that he put me forward for this, which I thought was a great opportunity and super-grateful for it. And yeah, just ever since I found out about it, I’ve been in the back of my mind every single practice session, trying to think about how I can get prepared for it. And yeah, just really can’t wait for this opportunity.
Well, I watch Peter quite a lot. I know plenty about him from watching on YouTube. And actually to meet him would be pretty awesome, and play with him would be quite special as well, especially being from England as well.
I watch a lot of YouTube golf. I think it’s a great thing. Qualifying is always a different style of golf. Some people can take it quite aggressively, and some can play quite conservatively. So just playing in a different environment to what I’m currently used to will be quite fun. And I’ll be looking forward to trying maybe some shots that I wouldn’t typically do in a 54-hole event. But maybe on the 16th hole, who knows? I might need to take that one on or all sorts like that. So I’m really looking forward to seeing what that brings.
I’m Drew Sykes. I’m from Littlehampton, England, play at golf with Goodwood, and I think I’m going to shoot 68.
