In today’s video profiles of each of this year’s 16 competitors in The Q at Myrtle Beach, we present one of the young guns, Trevor Gutschewski, and the runner-up in last year’s inaugural Q competition, George Bryan IV. Check out their stories as this innovative event draws closer.
Play Golf Myrtle Beach and PGA TOUR Studios have partnered to present this one-of-a-kind competition for a spot to tee it up with the pros next month in the PGA TOUR’s 2025 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, May 8-11, 2025, at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
Featuring 16 players, including eight aspiring golf professionals and eight influential content creators, The Q at Myrtle Beach is an 18-hole, stroke-play competition that was played on March 3 at TPC Myrtle Beach. The winner will be revealed when the event airs on YouTube on May, 5, 2025, at 2 p.m. ET.
From where I was last year, I never expected to be here. It’s such a great opportunity to get in the field of a TOUR event and play with the best players in the world.
I grew up playing golf in Omaha, Nebraska. Always fell in love with the game, I was always around it. For me, my dad was a big part of my life and my dreams and stuff, but I grew up around him and going into the TOUR events and watching him play and watching him play with all these guys I watched on TV. And so, there’s nothing more I want in my life than to be one of those guys.
Oakland Hills was an incredible host. It’s hard to put into words what that week was like. It was just super long week, and it was such a fulfilling win on highest tier of junior golf. It gave me a ton of confidence in myself and my golf game.
I forgot who it was, Golf.com or Golf Digest posted something like Trevor Gutschewski was the 3000 whatever, amateur in the world going into this week, and I was like, what the hell? That’s kind of BS. I was like, gosh, I got to think of something to come back at this with. My dad always says that golf ball doesn’t care. He doesn’t care who you are. You can be whatever. So I was like, all right, that’s good. So I posted it and my phone’s blown up. So I don’t know. It was pretty cool. It’s pretty cool to have those type of things.
I’m Trevor Gutschewski. I’m from Omaha, Nebraska. Home course is Lost Rail Golf Club, and I think I’ll shoot 59 on Monday.
I wanted redemption. And having another opportunity, where 18 holes stands between you and playing at a PGA TOUR event, excites me. 18th hole, I mess up. Definitely added some fuel to the fire to really try to get it done tomorrow.
Growing up, going into the course with my dad, that was his job. And so, I didn’t know any better, so I just went with him to work. Then gravitated towards, “Oh, there’s something to do. I can hit golf balls, or whatever.” And then from there, just kind of fell in love. It was in my DNA, but also I think the competition is what hooked me for life.
First year doing it, something that we were really excited about doing. And to come to the 18th hole with a chance, with a two-stroke lead, was something you can only dream of, hope for. And then how I played that last hole really was, I think, I learned a lot about myself. All I have to do is hit it on the green, two-putt, and I get a spot in the tournament.
And hit it in the water, and kind of crumble in front of millions of people. Trying to process how do I act and be happy that buddy Matt Atkins won, but sad that I just lost an opportunity in my… Or so I thought. So, it was cool to process all that. But it’s definitely, I think, motivated me coming into this year like, “Hey, I want to see if I can get the job done, all 18 holes, and execute when it matters.”
The YouTube Championships that we’ve played with, the six of us, at the end, we win, we’re the champion of Bermuda, or wherever. There’s nothing on the line there. But here, you win on The Q, you’re at a PGA TOUR event, so that’s pretty insane.
Hey guys, my name’s George Bryan. I live in Aiken, South Carolina, play at Solina Golf Club. And I think I’m going to shoot, I think four under. Nah, think three under. Three under. Yeah, three under.
