Sandpiper Bay Bridge Remodeling a Case Study in Ingenuity

Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club recently installed new bridge boards on its Bay # 1 Bridge. General Manager and PGA Professional Tim Tilma shares a great example here of how his facility added creativity and efficiency to a process that further enhances the customer experience at this popular North Strand design.

“The team finished the task in just two days and completed it on a Monday and Tuesday (in mid-January), on chilly days that already had limited play those days,” said Tilma. “This is a major bridge (more than 150 feet long) and has water pipes running under it and attached to the framework. Over the past two years, Sandpiper Bay has replaced three of its five bridges and will replace its remaining two in summer 2024.

“A unique dynamic of this project is that Sandpiper Bay’s superintendent, Jon Stewart, has family members who work in the logging and lumber business. Jon’s dad and uncle, Jerry and Dale Stewart, brought in their sawmill equipment to help Sandpiper Bay cut its own boards from pine trees recently removed from the course.”

Hat tip to Tilma, Stewart, PGA Head Golf Professional Richard Kascsak and the entire Sandpiper Bay team for their ongoing dedication to providing their guests a quality experience!
