Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club in Myrtle Beach Completes Bunker Renovations

Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club in Conway, S.C. has completed an ambitious bunker renovation project that has notably altered the look and playability of the popular Clyde Johnston signature design.

In the process, Shaftesbury Glen reduced the size of several bunkers and removed some altogether, producing a two-fold effect:

1. It makes bunker maintenance much easier and less time consuming. After heavy rains, the course now requires less sand to be re-added to bunkers. This helps the course get back to peak playing shape much more quickly, and frees up resources to support other areas of the golf course.

2. It makes the course more playable for golfers of all skill levels. Reducing the number and size of bunkers means more room to miss the sand altogether. And if you do happen to find a bunker, it is now much easier to get out of that bunker because of their reduced steepness.
