As part of its broader effort to elevate the golfing experience for its guests, Tidewater Golf Club announced this week that it is embarking on an extensive bunker renovation project to begin later this year.

Based upon feedback from its members and guests, this two-phase renovation project will introduce modern bunker designs and strategic adjustments to improve playability while maintaining the unique character of the renowned Ken Tomlinson design. Its goal is to place those bunkers that are being kept back in their original positions, thus maintaining the design integrity of the property. The project will include reshaping, re-edging, installing new drainage systems, adding new sand, and ensuring correct sand depths.

Additionally, bunker shaping will be done to ensure water does not flow into the traps, and collars between bunkers and greens will be improved for both maintenance and playability purposes. Tidewater will first start working on those bunkers most in need of reconditioning from both a maintenance and labor standpoint, which generally correlates with the playability factor.

This renovation project will be conducted in two phases, with work scheduled to begin the third week of June 2024 and continue through the summer seasons of 2024 and 2025.

Tidewater will remain open throughout the renovation process, allowing guests to continue enjoying their rounds without interruption.
