Are you leaving yourself a lot of 30-yard pitch shots? That shot can be very tough, but Scott Tanguay from the Coastal Golf Academy in Myrtle Beach, S.C. is here to show you a very simple way to dominate these challenging positions.
Scott Tanguay:
Hey guys, Scott Tanguay here at the Coastal Golf Academy. Today we’re going to talk about those awkward 30-, 40-yard shots where you don’t quite have a full swing. You’re not quite doing your short game, but you’re going to end up in this situation many times, so let’s work on it. What I see a lot of my players do is either taking a really short stabby chip motion, or they just decelerate on their full swing. Both bad options. Right? What we want to do is have maybe a nine to three swing, a half swing so that it’s not too big that we need to decelerate. We can just keep the speed up. We don’t have to slam at it. It’s going to be nice and relaxed. The key is to really commit to the shot.
So I’ve got my lob wedge here. We’re going to have the feet pretty close together, more mimicking that chipping stance, right? We don’t want to get too wide here. So I’m here. Okay? We’re going to go with that nine to three style and keep up the aggressiveness, keep up the speed here.
Oh! Give that a try!
