Western Kentucky’s Easton Savoring His Second Chance to Pursue a Championship

When the playing field was announced last week for the Myrtle Beach Regional of the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, Western Kentucky Senior Stuart Easton was on the outside looking in. But when one individual competitor withdrew the next day, Easton’s college career was given new life – and with it, one last shot at championship glory.

In gaining the opportunity, Easton and WKU teammate Billy Tom Sargent (who’s competing in the Athens Regional) continue their quest to “Play for Coach” – former WKU Men’s Golf Head Coach Phillip Hatchett, who was tragically killed in June 2018 after being struck by a vehicle while biking with others.

Easton shared his thoughts on the emotional rollercoaster he’s ridden in the past week, the experience he’s enjoyed in Myrtle Beach, and what it would mean to Easton, Sargent and WKU for either or both of them to advance to the NCAA Finals.
