Five Things You Need to Know About the Members Club at Grande Dunes

The view from the clubhouse deck at the Members Club at Grande DunesThe Members Club at Grande Dunes has been one of the most sought after Myrtle Beach golf tee times since the course opened in 2005. For much of its young life, the Members Club was exclusively private but it’s now open to some public play for visitors on a golf package.

As a result, the seven-year-old layout is brand new to the vast majority of Myrtle Beach golfers. With that in mind, we present five things you need to know about the Nick Price design.

1. The course was designed with membership in mind, so the layout is challenging but imminently playable. The fairways are generous and threatening water hazards are few. If bombing the driver and fast greens are your forte, the Members Club is an ideal choice for your next Myrtle Beach golf trip.

2.  A round at the Members Club should be completed in no more than 4:20 and the course staff works to make sure that is the case. They don’t rush players, who want to enjoy the experience, but there are no tricks on the straight-forward layout. Golfers should have every reasonable expectation of enjoying a good, quick round.

3. The Members Club is, at its heart, a private club and guests playing the course get genuine member-for-a-day treatment. From the complimentary range balls and bottled water in each cart to the mouthwash in the bathroom, the member experience is a memorable one.

4. Nice clubhouses are aplenty along the Myrtle Beach golf scene, but the Mediterranean style clubhouse at the Members Club can make a claim to being the best. With a veranda overlooking the ninth and 18th holes and marble and tile throughout, the clubhouse is opulent. It’s absolutely worth the time to eat on property at the conclusion of your round as the club has a chef onsite as well.

5. If you are going to go low at the Members Club, take advantage of holes 4-6. A short par 5 – 458 yards from the middle tees – sandwiched between a pair of manageable par 3s, including the 119-yard fourth hole, presents players the opportunity for a strong front nine. Take advantage.
