Ryan Wilkinson, PGA Professional at Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club, shot a 2-under par 70 at Wachesaw Plantation East to win an 18-hole shootout and earn a spot in “The Q at Myrtle Beach.”

As the PGA TOUR comes to The Golf Capital of the World for the first time with the debut of the Myrtle Beach Classic, the tournament will feature a one-of-a-kind qualifying tournament with the winner receiving a sponsor exemption into the TOUR event.

What a fantastic week it’s been for golf lovers in Myrtle Beach! From breathtaking course conditions to unforgettable moments on the green, here’s a roundup of the incredible golfing action that’s been lighting up our social media feeds this past week!

The PGA TOUR is coming to The Golf Capital of the World for the first time in 2024 and along with it is a first-of-its-kind competition for a coveted sponsor’s exemption into the event. Golf Tourism Solutions (GTS) and Visit Myrtle Beach will be hosting “The Q at Myrtle Beach,” a 16-player, 18-hole shootout on March 4 with the winner earning a spot in the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic.

We’re at another of the Grand Strand’s renowned multicourse facilities, and Charlie’s kicking things off at Sea Trail Golf Resort with a visit to their Willard Byrd design. “The Big Timer” is taking on its par-5 13th hole, with a chance to get his overall score further in the red numbers. Will he capitalize?

The 41st annual PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com World Amateur Handicap Championship begins accepting entries today! A 72-hole, net stroke play tournament, the World Am will be played Aug. 26 – Aug. 30 and more than 3,200 players from across the globe are again expected to participate.

Travelers will soon have another option for travel between the Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) and the Buckeye state, thanks to new nonstop flights to Cleveland, OH on Frontier Airlines. Frontier announced it will begin the new service on May 21, 2024, with flights operating three times per week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

Prestwick Country Club has reopened for play following a 45-day closure to complete notable renovations work on the design’s front nine. Hear from Prestwick General Manager Jay Smith, who sat down with PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com to discuss the completed work on holes 4 and 5, as well as some other upgrade projects they’ll undertake in the coming months.
