2019 Preseason Classic Kicks Off Monday

As the Midwest and Northeastern United States brace for this week’s arctic blast, 202 golfers from 24 states descended upon Myrtle Beach for more seasonal temperatures as they hit the links to begin the 2019 Myrtle Beach Preseason Classic. As the opening foray for many of these golfers’ 2019 season, the tournament is held over three days at six different Myrtle Beach golf courses.

Monday’s first round, held at Eagle Nest and Wachesaw Plantation East, featured a best ball format in which players on each two-man team played their own ball. Tuesday’s second round at Glen Dornoch and the Love Course at Barefoot Resort & Golf moves to a modified alternate shot format, in which each team member will hit a tee shot and then alternate shots until their team’s ball is holed.

Wednesday’s final round moves to the Heathland Course at Legends Golf Resort and Litchfield Country Club, and conducted in a Texas scramble format – similar to best ball, as it will force players to choose the best tee shot of the two, but then play their own ball from the selected drive location through completion of the hole.

Despite cloudy skies forecast for the Preseason Classic’s final two rounds, temperatures are expected to peak near 60 degrees Tuesday to make for comfortable playing conditions.
