The time is now for the largest, most fun and most valuable golf tournament on the planet! More than 3,500 participants in the 38th Annual PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com World Amateur Handicap Championship begin their descent this weekend upon “The Golf Capital of the World” to compete on nearly 60 of Myrtle Beach’s best golf courses. We’re here to be your eyes and ears on the ground throughout World Am Week – and we’re starting off with some of the biggest numbers that stand out about this year’s event, and what they mean.
This represents its largest player count in 13 years.
This includes our geographic outliers of Hawaii and Alaska, the latter with which we’ve had some fun in recent years encouraging our Bering Sea brothers and sisters to join in on the fun.
It’s the highest number of entrants from any one state.
Flights span across multiple divisions serving men’s, senior men’s, women’s, senior women’s and “Just for Fun” playing interests.
And where would this event be without their tireless efforts throughout the week? Event volunteers serve us in a wide range of capacities including event check-in, scoring, rules officiating, will call and varied duties Monday through Thursday nights at “The World’s Largest 19th Hole” at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, and much, much more. Our heartfelt thanks to all our dedicated volunteers for their steadfast World Am support!
Participating courses span the 60-mile stretch of the Grand Strand golf scene, from Carolina National and Lockwood Folly on the north end to Founders Club at Pawleys Island and Pawleys Plantation to the south.

the average World Am player will record in an 18-hole round.
This is based on the number achieved in the last “full field” event in 2019. Does this mean that each of these 11 players has to celebrate by buying a round of drinks for everyone at the “World’s Largest 19th Hole”? We kid, of course, but it brings us to these 19th Hole-related numbers, including:
