David (00:14):

Hi everyone, and welcome back in to the Charlie Rymer Balls in the Air Podcast. I am not your host, Charlie Rymer. Once again, I am his producer, David Williams, just filling in for Charlie while he recovers from his surgery. And we’re going to keep this brief, folks, but today’s episode, Charlie and myself are going to be planning his dream Myrtle Beach golf trip. There’s no strings attached. Money’s not an issue. We’re just planning a golf trip. He gets to play, stay, eat and do whatever he wants.

David (00:50):

I really hope you enjoy this episode. And if you want to win a dream Myrtle Beach golf vacation, I’m going to tell you about an opportunity to win a free one. And that is the Golf is Great contest that we are running.

David (01:03):

Now, obviously golf is great. We all have our own reasons for why golf is great. I have a ton of reasons. I’ve made a hole in one at Grande Dunes (No. 2). Not a big deal. And if you think golf is great and you have a photo of yourself on the golf course, I want you to go to www.golfisgreat.com. Upload that photo. Write a little comment about it and submit it. And you could win your own Myrtle Beach golf trip. So one more time for the people in the back, www.golfisgreat.com and you could win your own Myrtle Beach golf trip.

David (01:36):

And now, the episode.

Charlie (01:45):

I’m thrilled to be joined once again by my co-host, David Williams. David, say hello to the people.

David (01:50):

Hi. Hi, people. Hi, Charlie. Good to see you.

Charlie (01:52):

Did you not know we were going to be on video today?

David (01:54):

No.

Charlie (01:54):

You could have at least combed your hair.

David (01:56):

I know. I know. I need to get a haircut. My mother and my girlfriend are on me about getting a haircut.

Charlie (02:00):

You should listen to them.

David (02:01):

I don’t like listening. I’m not a good listener. That’s the thing.

Charlie (02:04):

I’m sorry. What did you say? Apparently I’m not a good listener myself.

David (02:08):

What are we talking about?

Charlie (02:10):

Let’s talk about golf.

David (02:11):

Okay.

Charlie (02:11):

Oh, before we get to that. I had a really cool week last week. I hate to say this, rubbing it in. Because by the way, it’s like 61 degrees and sunny today in Myrtle Beach. But I was in Hawaii last week.

David (02:21):

Ah, yeah. Too bad.

Charlie (02:22):

Somebody had to do it.

David (02:23):

I feel bad for you. I feel real bad.

Charlie (02:26):

It was a working vacation. My friends at Ace Hardware have been putting on this event. Last week was the 25th anniversary. It’s called the Ace Shootout. I was taping a show there on Golf Channel I think on April 17th or 18th and was co-hosting it with my buddy Rob Riggle who is incredible. You probably seen him in a ton of movies.

David (02:48):

He’s in everything I feel like. Everything.

Charlie (02:51):

Yeah, especially anything with Will Ferrell in it. He’s always a funny guy. And we’re going to get him here to Myrtle Beach. Rob actually was a United States Marine for 23 years. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, and then decided he was going to get into comedy and acting. That’s just your standard career path there, right?

David (03:08):

Yeah, just normal. Completely normal.

Charlie (03:10):

But he’s just such a cool guy for as accomplished as he is. He’s very approachable and a lot of fun. But the big thing was we had some other great celebrities there. We had teams from baseball, football and entertainment and basketball. Everybody had a great time and we raised $2.8 million dollars for Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

David (03:30):

I’d say that’s a pretty good week then.

Charlie (03:31):

Yeah, it was a good week. I know who won because I was hosting it. I can’t say. I’m sworn to secrecy. You’re going to have to watch on Golf Channel in April. That’s what golf does such a great job of is bringing people together. Everybody has a good time and it’s an amazing vehicle. Raise a lot of money for a lot of great causes.

David (03:49):

Absolutely. There’s a ton of tournaments out here, even some locally and some non-profits here locally as well that benefit the game, grow the game, get new people into it. People say there’s a lot of problems with golf, but if there’s one thing golf does right, it’s that.

Charlie (04:03):

Yeah. And the thing about it is I mean what else are you going to do to get people together for a day that’s fun and raises money? You going to do a fun run? There ain’t nothing fun about running.

David (04:12):

No, no. I’m out.

Charlie (04:13):

I’ll just send a check. I’m not going to show up.

David (04:15):

Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.

Charlie (04:17):

Yeah, so golf is unique in that capacity. PGA TOUR raised a lot of money, but I think they’re sneaking up on $3 billion in charitable earnings. But if you add up all the little golf tournaments that are held every year for send a band to Washington or somebody’s got some sort of surgery they need their insurance doesn’t cover it. I don’t know how you could put a value on how much money golf raises.

David (04:40):

I don’t think there really is a value. The reach of golf and everything that they do, especially from a tournament level and raising money level, it’s so deep that I don’t even think that you could begin to peel back those layers.

Charlie (04:53):

It is a special game, no doubt about it. More people are playing. And I hope more people are looking at coming to play some golf in Myrtle Beach. It’s a unique place in that we’ve got top 100 golf courses. We’ve also got golf courses for somebody who maybe hasn’t played a lot of golf. Great place to get started so you can ease into the game a little bit. With all the golf courses we have here, over 78. We’ve got something really for everybody. And I know that’s what you want to get into. I’m actually giving you responsibility today. You’re running the whole show today. So what are we doing on the show today? Can you handle the pressure?

David (05:29):

I think I can. It is still your show, but I’m going to take it over for just a little bit. I was thinking about topics and stuff you and I could sit here and talk about. You and I could sit here and talk about a multitude of different things for hours. But something that would be fun I thought was why not have Charlie plan his own Myrtle Beach golf trip.

Charlie (05:47):

A lot of eating is going to be involved of that.

David (05:49):

And that’s part of it.

Charlie (05:51):

Because at my age, I’m better at eating than I am at the golf anymore.

David (05:54):

And you know that’s part of a golf trip. You’ve been on many golf trips. That’s a big part of it is what you do after the round or what you do before the round. Where you eat and stuff like that.

David (06:04):

We’re going to go step by step and we’re going to plan a three day, three round golf trip here in Myrtle Beach. Budget is not an issue. We can play and stay and eat and do whatever we want.

Charlie (06:16):

You got it.

David (06:17):

I think the first place we need to start is where we’re coming from. One through four, pick a number and that is determining where we’re coming from.

Charlie (06:26):

You’ve actually thought about this and planned it out haven’t you?

David (06:28):

Oh, yeah.

Charlie (06:29):

I’m really impressed with you.

David (06:30):

Absolutely.

Charlie (06:31):

I mean you don’t look like much, but obviously there’s more than …

David (06:34):

A little bit.

Charlie (06:35):

Listen to your mom and girlfriend. You need to get the haircut. But anyway, one through four, three.

David (06:40):

Okay, so three. Three is the Midwest. So let’s just say we’re going to come from Dallas. We’ll come from Dallas, Texas. Big market. I think I know the answer to this. I hope I know the answer to this. Keep in mind, budget, money’s not a problem. Are we driving or flying?

Charlie (06:57):

Well, I’ve been on the flight. It’s not year round. It’s seasonal, but American has a non-stop from DFW right into Myrtle Beach. It’s like a two hour flight. It is easy. And it’s a pretty long drive from Dallas.

David (07:09):

Yeah, all right. Good. So we’re on the same page there.

Charlie (07:12):

We’re flying from Dallas. You could also probably go over out of … Oh, what do they call the other airport in Dallas? Not Houston Hobby, but Love Field.

David (07:22):

Yes, Love.

Charlie (07:22):

That’s Southwest. You’re probably not going to get non-stop on Southwest if you come into Myrtle Beach. But, you don’t have to pay for your golf clubs.

David (07:30):

There you go.

Charlie (07:31):

Yeah, so it wouldn’t be non-stop. You’d probably have to stop in Nashville or somewhere. You could look at it either way, but me, I’m a non-stop guy.

David (07:37):

Yep, me too. All right. So we’re flying from Dallas non-stop. The second part, where do we want to stay? We have South End, Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet area. We have central Myrtle Beach, more of the nightlife around Broadway and stuff like that. Or we can go up to the North end and go to the Calabash area. Where would you want to stay?

Charlie (07:56):

Well, if I’m coming for three days, I’m going to do one of each. Because I tell folks, when you’re coming to Myrtle Beach, you really got to divide it up. I love what you did there. The south, central and north. And they all have different character and different golf courses. What you don’t want to do is stay in south and book your golf course in north.

David (08:14):

Exactly.

Charlie (08:15):

Because you could be looking at easily an hour drive. So make sure you get that matched up, because nobody wants to drive an hour. Especially if you’re like me, have a few beverages when you’re playing golf. You got an hour drive back, that’s an expensive Uber.

David (08:28):

Yes.

Charlie (08:31):

So let’s start in the south.

David (08:32):

All right. We’re in Pawleys. A ton of great golf courses down there. It’s in the springtime. We have one round for the first day here. We want to start the trip out with a bang. Where are we playing golf?

Charlie (08:49):

I live down in Murrells Inlet and it’s always hard for me to pick a golf course. It’s like I’ve got two kids, which one’s my favorite. Well, I’ve had certain times where one was my favorite over the other. I’ll never tell him. But if you’re asking me where I’m going to play on this trip, then there’s a lot of ways to go. But Caledonia is special. Caledonia is a top 100 golf course. It’s got the best entrance in golf outside of Augusta National. I mean when you drive in that front gate at Caledonia, you know you’re going to some place special.

Charlie (09:27):

And some of the things I like about it is I’m not a big fan in general of golf that plays through housing corridors. This is an intimate, tight piece of property. It almost feels like you’re playing on an estate kind of property. Pine Valley is an estate piece of property. You’re in this intimate, tight area and the landscaping is spectacular.

David (09:52):

Especially in the springtime.

Charlie (09:53):

In the spring, oh man, it’s unbelievable. The golf course is not very long, but it’s fun. I’ve never heard anybody complain after playing Caledonia, “I wish it was longer,” even though I know it’s not going to play any more than 6,700 yards from the back tee. Nobody needs to play any longer than that anyway. I might even be a little shorter than that.

David (10:09):

Yeah, I think it’s like 6,500.

Charlie (10:10):

But it’s really, really a special place. I love it. The enjoyment factor is off the chart. Sure you’ll get challenged, but you don’t walk away going, “Man, that was such a hard golf course I got my butt kicked.” It’s not easy. It’s just fun.

David (10:28):

Exactly.

Charlie (10:28):

And beautiful.

David (10:30):

There’s some holes that are easier. There’s some holes that are gettable like nine I think is one of the most gettable holes there. But then you have the challenges of holes such as four, the par four that doglegs right around. I think it’s 415, 420 from the tips. That’s a big boy par four. And 15 and 16 back to back, those two par fours as well are really tough holes.

David (10:53):

So we’ve got Caledonia as our first round.

Charlie (10:55):

Wait, wait, wait. You left out the most important part.

David (10:57):

Well, 18.

Charlie (10:58):

The hang-

David (10:59):

That’s true.

Charlie (11:00):

When you get finished playing 18.

David (11:02):

It’s amazing.

Charlie (11:03):

18, the green plays right up to the clubhouse and there’s this beautiful porch. You got all this wilderness with the sunset. Late in the day is a great time to be there.

David (11:12):

Yes.

Charlie (11:13):

The folks there are super nice. The food’s incredible. But just sitting out on that porch, especially in the spring before it gets too hot. Enjoying a beverage of your choice, telling a few stories, that is just a wonderful place to hang out. And for groups, it’s so cool. Let’s say you got a group of 16. The first group gets finished. They go hang out. And then you can holler at your boys when they’re finishing up. That day is just really a spectacular day.

David (11:41):

Maybe place a few wagers on the people coming in.

Charlie (11:45):

Yeah, yeah.

David (11:46):

That’s always one of my favorite parts too.

Charlie (11:48):

Heckle when somebody hits in the water. Somebody’s going to hit it in the water.

David (11:50):

Oh gosh. Last time I was there. Quick sidebar. There was a group of probably about 20 young guys. They’re probably my age and they were all drinking. We had finished our round. We were eating lunch and they were getting ready to go out and play. And they were booing. I was like, “Whoa, whoa.” I’m really happy these guys … We started on 10 that day, so 18 was our night hole. But I’m like man, if they were there when I was there, I’m putting it in the water or in the clubhouse, one of the two.

Charlie (12:18):

Yeah, I got you.

David (12:19):

All right. We got Caledonia is our first round. After the round, we just talked about it. We’re going to hang out on the porch, have a few beverages. What are we going to do that night? Where are we going to eat? Where are we going to have a couple drinks? I think I think I know where you’re going to go.

Charlie (12:34):

I might surprise you.

David (12:37):

There are two options.

Charlie (12:37):

I might surprise you.

David (12:38):

Where are going to eat? Where are we going to drink?

Charlie (12:39):

I’m going to tell you what. Food’s my thing. And Pawleys Island, Franks will go toe to toe with anything in this country and beyond. And listen, when you come to Myrtle Beach, if you want steak, you can get steak. If you want Italian you can get Italian. But when you come here, you got to get seafood. And Franks has the steaks and all of that, but they always have specials. It’s always local seafood which is just incredible. In the spring, we’re going our trip, the shrimp in this part of the world are amazing. In fact, the big Ferris wheel right there, the shrimpers in February and March, you can see them in there off shore. South Carolina wild caught shrimp, and the folks at Frank’s are doing something special with it. Franks is an amazing restaurant. In fact, it’s worth coming to this area just to go to dinner at Franks.

David (13:28):

I might go to Franks for [crosstalk 00:13:31].

Charlie (13:30):

Forget about everything. Yeah, it is really good. If you don’t like seafood, they’ve got stuff. But try, they’ll have a flounder and some sauce with some shrimp over top. Believe me folks, you will not be disappointed in Frank’s.

David (13:43):

I’m getting hungry just sitting here thinking about it.

Charlie (13:45):

Yeah, me too.

David (13:45):

We might have to move on. Let’s move on. Day two. So day one’s set. Caledonia, maybe we’ll have breakfast at True Blue before the round.

Charlie (13:53):

True Blue has a great breakfast.

David (13:54):

Fantastic.

Charlie (13:54):

Great view too, and that’s another good golf course.

David (13:56):

Yeah. If we were playing 36, that would be a possibility right there. So we’ll do Caledonia, hang out there afterwards. Then we’re going to go to Frank’s for dinner.

David (14:05):

Day two, where do we want to play? North or South?

Charlie (14:07):

We’re just going to walk up the ladder.

David (14:10):

Climb the ladder.

Charlie (14:11):

We’re going to make it more central day two.

David (14:13):

Okay, so central. I mean, a ton of golf courses here. You got Prestwick, Pine Lakes, both Myrtlewood courses. You have World Tour. What else? Grande Dunes is central. The Dunes Club is central as well. I mean, if you need some time to think about this, let me know and I’ll give you the time to think.

Charlie (14:34):

Well, it’s a tough choice. But I got it. Dunes is another one of our top 100 courses. A little more challenging to get a tee time there. You got to work at it, but it is very much worth it. They have a membership there, but they do have some outside play. And if you can snag one of those tee times, it’s not going to be inexpensive, but is absolutely going to be worth it. It’s a Robert Trent Jones golf course. We’ve had events on the PGA TOUR Champions there. In fact, Gary McCord won the PGA TOUR Champions tour championship there.

Charlie (15:11):

If you go back and look, it was a great site for Q School for years and years and years. Players like Ben Crenshaw got their tour card coming out of Dunes. With Rees Jones having reworked it from time to time, the work of his dad, Robert Trent Jones, Jr., it’s just a special place. And the bunkering is magnificent. It’s big. It’s bold. The clubhouse is beautiful. The view from the clubhouse. It’s just a really neat golf course.

Charlie (15:39):

And also, you’ve got to get something out of the pro shop. Dennis has one of the coolest pro shops around.

David (15:44):

Absolutely.

Charlie (15:45):

And he’s not smart. He’s a head golf professional. He’s not smart enough to figure out. Whoever does his merchandising does a wonderful job. I’ve taken pictures in their pro shop. That’s the way pro shops ought to be done. And then the logo there, the gator, we got one back up here. It’s just a classic logo.

Charlie (16:03):

And it’s a place when you go in there, it’s almost like it’s been in a time warp. Sure, it’s gotten better and all that, but it’s the same feel that you would have had 30-40 years ago when you went in there. I love Dunes. Got to play it if you get the chance.

David (16:21):

I do too. Some of the best greens in this area. I mean specially summertime, those things are like putting on glass they’re so fast.

Charlie (16:28):

Yep.

David (16:28):

All right. We’ve got Dunes Club is our second round of the trip on day two. What are we going to do that night? Obviously-

Charlie (16:37):

Well, we’re going to stay at Marina Inn which is a fine hotel.

David (16:40):

Okay, so we’ll stay there.

Charlie (16:42):

I would take up against anything. It’s right on the Intracostal. You don’t have the beach view there, but just a really nice hotel. Are we good staying there?

David (16:53):

Hey, this is your trip, so absolutely.

Charlie (16:56):

All right. And so I would look for dinner … Now again, I just said you come to Myrtle Beach for seafood. We’re going to do seafood on day one and day three. Day two, and you know where I’m going with this.

David (17:12):

I think I do.

Charlie (17:12):

We’re going to put some red meat on the table. Just like Frank’s, our prime steakhouse in Myrtle Beach, New York Prime, it’ll go toe to toe with anything on the planet. This is the classic go in and you get the seafood tower for the appetizer. You get the nice salad. I’m a bone-in rib eye guy with a little mushroom and onion on the side.

David (17:38):

Oh, Lord.

Charlie (17:39):

You got to save up for this one a little bit.

David (17:41):

Worth it.

Charlie (17:41):

But again, it is worth it. And I’ll give you a good story. Who would have ever thought that the sommelier from a steak house in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina would end up being the sommelier at a particular golf club that we’ve all heard of that’s in Augusta, Georgia?

David (18:01):

Really?

Charlie (18:01):

Yeah, some guys were in that were members. And the guy that had been in Augusta a long time retired. They loved this young guy. That’s pretty cool.

David (18:12):

That’s [crosstalk 00:18:13].

Charlie (18:12):

Gives you and idea of the quality that you’re dealing with at New York Prime in Myrtle Beach. Really a neat place. World class.

David (18:20):

Interesting I did not know that. That is a very fun fact. Okay, day two, set in stone. Staying at Marina Inn. Playing at Dunes Club and then heading to New York Prime for dinner. First two days are pretty good.

Charlie (18:31):

Yeah, we’re doing good.

David (18:32):

We’re doing good. All right, day three. One more place left. Let’s head up north. Golf courses up around the north, obviously where the studio’s located, we have the four courses at Barefoot. We have Glen Dornoch. We have Tidewater. We have Rivers Edge up in Shallotte. We have Thistle as well. And just like any area in Myrtle Beach, ton of good choices. Where do you want to play golf?

Charlie (18:57):

Tidewater, man, that’s pretty.

David (18:59):

I know.

Charlie (19:01):

You mentioned Thistle, that’s a great golf course. Rivers Edge, wonderful views. So much to choose from. But I’m going to tell you what. Barefoot with the four golf courses, make sure I got this right off the top of my head. You tell me a resort anywhere that’s got a Tom Fazio, a Pete Dye, a Greg Norman, and a Davis Love.

David (19:22):

There’s isn’t one.

Charlie (19:23):

Right. There’s not. And three of them are centrally located. The Pete Dye is off just a little bit, a quarter mile away. It’s got its own driving range. The other three work out of the same range. In fact, our studio here is located on the end of that range. It is just world class.

David (19:42):

It is.

Charlie (19:42):

We’re “The Golf Capital of the World.” Any one of the four, people are going to be happy with. The cool thing is even though it’s similar terrain, they have different style to each one of those. You’re not going to be disappointed in any of them. And the one I’m going to pick of the four might surprise people a little bit. But I think the one that for me is the most fun to play is the Davis Love. And when you look at the Davis Love, it’s one that the locals, and not every year, but a lot of times the locals have voted the Davis Love at Barefoot as their favorite golf course in all of Myrtle Beach. It’s just fun.

David (20:20):

It is.

Charlie (20:20):

And maybe I play it pretty good when I play. That might impact me a little bit. But if I came here and they go, “Mr. Rymer, we messed up. We had you on the Love. Something happened and we put you on the Norman.” I’m like, “Oh, I’m good.” “Oh wait, we don’t have anything on the Norman. We got you on the Fazio.” I’m like, “I’m good.”

David (20:37):

That’s fine too.

Charlie (20:38):

“We’ll put you on the Dye.” I don’t care.

David (20:41):

Yeah, you can’t go wrong.

Charlie (20:43):

But just by a little bit, the one I’m going to pick at least if I’m there just one day would be the Love.

David (20:48):

I agree with you. I’m a big Pete Dye person, so I obviously love the Dye Club and I love Prestwick. But the Love course, I’ve only played it once. It could have just been the atmosphere and the weather and everything that day, but it was … I hit a lot of bad shots. I’ll just preface it with that. I hit a lot of bad shots.

Charlie (21:07):

It doesn’t really surprise me to hear that.

David (21:08):

Yeah, I know. But I didn’t get into a lot of trouble was the beauty of it. I didn’t lose a ball. And so it felt great. And I see why that golf course is consistently rated as most fun.

Charlie (21:19):

Yeah, and he’s got the drivable par four. I forget, number four. And it’s got those really cool Roman ruins on there. A lot of people don’t realize, the Romans, they were in Myrtle Beach 2,000 years ago I think. Had one of their palaces there. That’s all that’s left. I’m making that up. There is a cool wall there that you can bounce it off if you go along. A little bit like Road Hole, but it really is a neat drivable four. I like it.

Charlie (21:49):

But you can’t believe how many people I’ve actually gotten-

David (21:54):

[crosstalk 00:21:54] with that.

Charlie (21:54):

… the fact that those are Roman ruins.

David (21:55):

Yeah. I couldn’t tell if you were being serious for a second. I was like, “Oh, am I-”

Charlie (22:01):

The Romans in Myrtle Beach 2,000 years ago.

David (22:02):

I was like am I really going to have to break this to him on air? Oh gosh, please don’t get me in that predicament.

David (22:07):

All right. Golf is set for day three.

Charlie (22:09):

Where are we going to stay in North Myrtle?

David (22:11):

Well, we can stay right here.

Charlie (22:13):

You can stay at Barefoot. I tell you what. One night you got to get on the beach. There’s so many cool houses you can rent and condos. I don’t like being on the beach all the time, but if you’re coming here, one night you need to get on the beach. I’d see about getting a rental on the beach.

David (22:29):

And what is it? Isn’t Kingston and North Beach right across the street? That’s a big one right on the beach. Huge, super, super nice [crosstalk 00:22:37].

Charlie (22:36):

Houses. If you’re coming with a bunch of folks, you can get a house for 16 people. You probably get where everybody’s got their own bedroom. Some really big houses. And then some of the services will actually have it stocked when you get here. They’re not cheap, but let’s say you have four families, divide it up for a week, then it gets a lot more reasonable. And then folks that want to do the beach got the beach. The folks that want to do the golf got the golf.

Charlie (23:04):

If you don’t want to get out to dinner you can do a lot of your meals ahead of time. Again, it can be fully stocked when you get there. That’s pretty good living right there.

David (23:12):

I’d say so. Golf is set. Our accommodations are set for the last day. You mentioned it earlier. We’re going to bookend the trip with seafood. Where are we going up north for seafood?

Charlie (23:25):

Having grown up in South Carolina and done a lot of vacations in South Carolina, there is no trip that is complete coming to this area unless you go for fried seafood. Clog your arteries up. Go to sleep in a coma like that with a drool.

David (23:43):

Oh, yeah.

Charlie (23:44):

Unless you go down south which we went to Franks down south. Down south, if you go to the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet, that’s the seafood capital of South Carolina. But just over the border, Calabash, North Carolina, you can’t go wrong. There’s six, seven restaurants in there.

David (24:01):

They’re all-

Charlie (24:02):

Some of it people are like, “If it’s a buffet, I don’t want to go to the buffet.” I’ll tell you what. Fried shrimp on a buffet, I’ve been asked to leave a few times. And the Calabash style shrimp are the little ones. Man, they’re sweet and good.

David (24:14):

I know.

Charlie (24:14):

Some places they call those creek shrimp. I don’t know, but to me it’s just an old school. Don’t be going thinking I’m going to make my cardiologist happy. When you go to Calabash to eat, you’re going there to make you happy.

David (24:27):

Yeah, you’re the only person that’s going to matter.

Charlie (24:29):

You’re going to hush puppies with honey butter. I love going up there. I think Boundary House is one that’s right in the middle. It’s not a buffet. If you can get in there, you’re going to be really, really super happy. But you got to go. You’re on vacation.

David (24:48):

Live it up.

Charlie (24:49):

You can eat salad when you get home.

David (24:51):

Yes.

Charlie (24:51):

You got to go to either Calabash or the MarshWalk down in Murrells Inlet. They’re about 60 miles apart or close to it. And by the way, if you and hit the MarshWalk, you got to go to Dead Dog Saloon. That’s my place.

David (25:03):

Oh, that’s where I thought you were going on the day one.

Charlie (25:04):

Right, right. I went upscale on Frank’s. But if I’m ever missing and anybody’s out looking for me, one of the first places you should check is Dead Dog Saloon.

David (25:12):

Yeah, I figured as much.

Charlie (25:14):

But go to Calabash. It’s just wonderful.

David (25:17):

Then obviously next day heading back to the airport.

Charlie (25:20):

Sad.

David (25:21):

Boarding our non-stop flight back to Dallas. Just to recap, we’re flying in from Dallas non-stop. Day one we’re going to Caledonia. Hanging out after Caledonia and then we’re heading to Frank’s for dinner. Day two-

Charlie (25:36):

Wait. Day one we forgot the place to stay.

David (25:37):

We did.

Charlie (25:37):

There’s a place in Murrells Inlet called the Sportsman’s Lodge.

David (25:43):

Inlet Sports Lodge.

Charlie (25:44):

What’s that?

David (25:44):

Inlet Sports Lodge.

Charlie (25:45):

Inlet Sports Lodge. Yeah, Inlet Sports Lodge. And it is really super neat. It’s set up, the units are owned individually. But there’s a little mini kitchen in there. It’s walking distance from the MarshWalk. Uncle Mikey’s pizza is a good late-night snack. If you go there, tell Uncle Mikey I said hey. He’ll take care of you.

Charlie (26:01):

But Inlet Sports Lodge is really a super neat place to stay. It’s not like staying in a regular hotel. It’s got a lot of character to it. We had to put that back in.

David (26:10):

Yes, we did.

Charlie (26:10):

Sorry to interrupt.

David (26:11):

Good catch.

Charlie (26:12):

But you are the co-host and I’m the host.

David (26:13):

Exactly.

Charlie (26:14):

If I want to interrupt, I can interrupt.

David (26:15):

I’m Robin, you’re Batman. I remember. I remember.

Charlie (26:18):

Batman, yeah.

David (26:20):

All right. Day one is wrapped up. We’re wrapping up at Frank’s that night. Fantastic day.

David (26:24):

Day two we’re coming up central. We’re going to play Dunes Club. We’re staying at Marina Inn and then we’re going to New York Prime to get some red meat that day.

Charlie (26:31):

Yeah, what a great day. That’s only just one day. What a great day that is.

David (26:34):

I’d fly in just to do that. And then our final day, we’re playing the Love course here at Barefoot. We’re staying at some sort of house on the beach.

Charlie (26:42):

Or condo, with a great view.

David (26:43):

Or condo.

Charlie (26:44):

Right on the beach.

David (26:45):

One of the two. And then we’re heading up to Calabash to get some fried seafood.

Charlie (26:48):

To clog our arteries up.

David (26:50):

And then like I said, next day, sad, sad. Heading to the airport flying back to Dallas. That Charlie, is your three round golf trip here in Myrtle Beach.

Charlie (26:59):

And I guarantee you anybody interested in doing that, you can get it done. You just go to playgolfmyrtlebeach.com.

David (27:05):

Exactly.

Charlie (27:06):

They’ll hook you up for that exact trip or anything else you might be interested in.

David (27:10):

Exactly.

Charlie (27:11):

David, you did pretty good-

David (27:12):

Thanks.

Charlie (27:12):

… driving the boat here.

David (27:14):

Thanks. I’m trying to get my feet under me a little bit. A little nervous. A little nervous, but I think I did good.

Charlie (27:20):
