Barstool Sports’ Fore Play Travel Series Visits Pine Lakes Country Club

In the first of their crew’s four recent rounds in “The Golf Capital of the World,” Barstool Sports’ Fore Play Travel Series visited “The Granddaddy” at Pine Lakes Country Club, Myrtle Beach’s first-ever golf course that opened for play nearly a century ago in 1927. Here’s what you’ll see in this episode:

After waking up in their oceanfront digs for the week and making the trek to the Robert White-designed classic, Riggs, Frankie and Trent got a quick history lesson on what makes Pine Lakes unique in the Myrtle Beach golf landscape – including, to their surprise, learning that the area’s oldest course was the setting in the early 1950s where a group of Time Inc. executives hatched the concept of a new weekly sports publication, Sports Illustrated.

It didn’t take long for their early-morning tee time to get energized, as the guys began a heated battle between them in a game of “Wolf” – a points-based game that evened the playing field. See if you’re surprised at who among the Fore Play guys came out on top!

But that wasn’t the end of the day’s competition between them. As day turned to evening, it was time to swap out the golf club for baseball bats as Riggs, Frankie and Trent headed over to Pelicans Ballpark, home of the Chicago Cubs’ Class A affiliate Myrtle Beach Pelicans. With the Pelicans rolling out both the red carpet and a temporary fence in front of the one the pros use, it was time for a “Home Run Derby” to see who among the Fore Play crew could channel their inner Aaron Judge the most.
