CharlieRymer_2009.jpgWelcome to Charlie's Corner, the blog home for Golf Channel analyst Charlie Rymer. A lifelong Myrtle Beach golfer, Rymer, with his charectaristic whit and unique perspective, will be weighing in on all things golf.

The days since Thanksgiving have been challenging for those of us that cover the world of golf for a living.

The Tiger Woods situation took all of us by surprise.  I remember walking in to Golf Channel for what was going to be a normal day of show tapings.  As soon as I hit the door I was told to get on a suit and have some makeup thrown on and head to the studio.

We did a 2 hour live special that afternoon and we only had 17 minutes to prep for it.  In a situation like that, all you can do is be honest and speak from the heart.  Hopefully that is what has come across to the viewers

My concerns from the beginning have been for Tiger and his family.  I'm very hopeful that he will do the work to get the best possible outcome for his family, whatever that may be.  I hope to see Tiger back on the course after he has the family situation and his personal issues sorted out.

I don't think it does Tiger, his family, or the game any good at all to see him on the course until that point.  If and when he returns is the million dollar question.  I'm sure his return will be a major media event and I've been overwhelmed at the attention this story has received.  It really hit home to me when I was driving by the entrance to the community where Tiger lives the day after his world came tumbling down.  It looked like a Super Bowl was about to kick off.

I'm just hopeful that we all give his family the time and privacy they need.  I'm not optimistic that will happen.Charlie Rymer, a Golf Channel analyst and the host of Road Trip: Myrtle Beach, is a former PGA Tour player and collegiate All-American at Georgia Tech. Rymer, who grew up playing in Myrtle Beach, has travled the world playing and talking about the game of golf and will share his unique perspective in Charlie's Corner.
