Closing Hole Leaves Golfers Soaring at Eagle Nest Golf Club

October 16, 2017

For 45 years, Eagle Nest has provided a quality round and superior value to locals and visitors alike. To ensure the property continued to deliver on golfer expectations, Eagle Nest has installed new greens, doubled down on its commitment to course conditioning, and launched an expansion that will eventually make the layout South Carolina’s longest at more than 8,000 yards.

While few of us will ever play from 8,000 yards, it speaks to the dedication to keeping a layout that was a North Strand pioneer top of mind. Our Myrtle Beach Golf Hole of the Week, naturally, takes you to Eagle Nest’s acclaimed finish and provides your final memory of the course.

No. 18 – Eagle Nest Golf Club
Par:
3
Yardage: 185 yards (blue tees), 164 yards (white), 112 yards (yellow), 100 yards (red)
Handicap: 7

Your round at Eagle Nest will conclude with one of the day’s most dramatic challenges, a closing par 3 that requires a carry over water and a bunker that fronts the green. Coming on the heels of a par 4 that plays 416 yards (No. 16) and a par 5 that checks in 576 yards (No. 17) from the white tees, golfers will need to muster a quality swing to close with par.

In fairness, the hole plays 164 yards but the carry over water isn’t that far. The green is surrounded by four bunkers and it’s the one in front that necessitates distance of the tee. If you want to hit the green, you will need to hit the ball, depending on where the pin is, approximately 155 yards in the air.

Eagle Nest is equal parts charm and challenge, much to the delight of players that have discovered the Little River layout.
