College Golf Heats Up at Caledonia, True Blue This Week for 2022 Golfweek Fall Challenge

Campbell, Austin Peay and Lipscomb each raced out to a seven-stroke advantage in women’s play, while Presbyterian holds a three-stroke lead in the men’s division after first-round play at the 2022 Golfweek Fall Challenge at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club.

Thirty-three NCAA Division I collegiate golf teams have descended upon the Grand Strand this week to compete in a 54-hole event hosted by the South Strand’s elite Mike Strantz designs. Seven colleges and universities are represented by teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions: Austin Peay, Presbyterian, Delaware, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville State, Stephen F. Austin, and Tennessee Tech.

The women’s teams competing at Caledonia this week in the Golfweek Fall Challenge also include Cal Baptist, Illinois-Chicago, Winthrop, Georgetown, UNC-Wilmington, Campbell, Wofford, Morehead State, New Mexico State, East Tennessee State, Lipscomb, USC Upstate and Appalachian State. The men’s field is playing at True Blue and also includes teams from Southern Indiana, Wright State, Queens, Temple, Samford, and Eastern Kentucky. Coastal Carolina has three players in the men’s division competing as individuals.

The public is welcome to attend, with Tuesday’s Round 3 tee times set to begin at 7:45 a.m. for the men’s competition at True Blue and 7:50 a.m. for the women’s field at Caledonia.
