The “A” and “B” teams of Frederica Academy (Saint Simonds Island, Ga.) captured the overall title and third place, respectively, in the 2025 Keiser University College of Golf Palmetto Championship this week at Tradition Golf Club, Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club.
Frederica’s “A” squad was paced by Will Perkins (E) and Jackson Byrd, who was 3-under par for the tournament and finished runner-up in the individual competition to Will Ruth of Dorman (S.C.). Frederica “A” finished 11 shots clear of second-place Greenwood (S.C., +17), with Myers Park (N.C.) finishing fourth and Charlotte Latin “A” (N.C.) rounding out the top five teams.
Campbell McClain of Waccamaw (S.C.) finished third in the individual standings, followed by Greenwood’s Bryson McCurry and Perkins.
The Palmetto is a 54-hole, collegiate-style tournament that has grown in demand and popularity to attract 48 teams this year from the Carolinas and multiple states beyond. Teams consist of five players, using the low four scores to determine the team total. Teams play one of three course rotations based on pre-tournament seeding, all for the same overall 54-hole tournament leaderboard. A simultaneous individual stroke play event is conducted for all participants as well.
