Giving Back: FGI Employees Helping Colleagues and Friends in Need

In this holiday season of giving, we’re continuing to shine a light on those in the Myrtle Beach golf industry who are making an impact in our local community. And between their company’s two golf vacation package providers and 21 owned and operated golf courses throughout the Grand Strand, the hundreds of area residents comprising the employee ranks at Founders Group International (FGI) have risen to the occasion time after time to aid their hometown area in various times of need.

This was perhaps never more evident than in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence in the fall of 2018, when the massive storm’s most catastrophic effects were felt in the weeks and months following its landfall. A staggering amount of rainfall (as much as 35 inches in parts of the Carolinas) caused widespread, record-setting flooding throughout much of the area’s inland regions, displacing thousands of area residents and inflicting more than $24 billion in damage.

Many FGI employees were among those affected, and their colleagues and friends wasted no time in leaping to their aid. Within weeks of the storm’s passing, they had organized and conducted a fundraising golf outing at Founders Club at Pawleys Island, where 124 golfers participated and raised more than $10,000, The company honored their employees’ generosity with a matching gift to bring the total donation from this effort to $21,000.

That same month, Long Bay Golf Club hosted a tournament to benefit area residents affected by the flooding. More than $6,700 was raised and donated to the Aberdeen Community Homeowners Association.

FGI employees’ spirit of giving continues to this day, with their efforts regularly directed toward ongoing local initiatives like area beach cleanups and team participation in such charity events as the American Heart Association Heart Walk.

We salute the employees of Founders Group International, and all those in the Myrtle Beach golf community who take an active role in making a difference in our hometown area!
