Warm, sunny skies greeted 400 military servicemen and servicewomen Monday for the kickoff round of the 2019 Veterans Golf Classic, hosted this week on 12 Myrtle Beach-area designs.
A staple event on the Grand Strand golf scene for the past two decades, the Veterans Classic combines golf, fun and camaraderie in a fun-filled week for past and present members of our armed forces including the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard. Participants compete as part of two-person teams, with the event flighted into four groups based on team handicap.
Monday’s best ball rounds teed off on River Hills Golf & Country Club, Whispering Pines, Indian Wells and the PineHills Course at Myrtlewood Golf Club. Wachesaw East, Brunswick Plantation, Blackmoor and Panther’s Run will host Tuesday’s scramble rounds, while Long Bay Club, International Club, The Wizard and Arrowhead will provide the home stretch round (modified alternate shot) for this year’s participants.
The festivities wrap up Wednesday evening with an event awards ceremony the Crown Reef Resort Conference Center.
