Louisville Takes Team, Medalist Honors at General Hackler Championship; Max Kennedy Earns Exemption to Myrtle Beach Classic

Boosted by the top-three performances of medalist Max Kennedy (-8) and Cooper Claycomb (T3, -6). the University of Louisville surged to a third-round lead it would not relinquish in route to both team and individual titles Wednesday at the 2024 General Hackler Championship at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club.

Louisville (-5) finished five shots clear of runner-up and host Coastal Carolina (E), with Furman (+1), East Tennessee State (+3) and Chattanooga (+3) rounding out the top five teams.

Kennedy edged Chattanooga’s John Houk (-7) to earn medalist honors – along with a special exemption to compete in the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic, the PGA TOUR’s first-ever event in “The Golf Capital of the World” to be contested May 9-12 at The Dunes Club. Claycomb, San Francisco’s Ben Partridge, and Furman’s Clark Akers each finished at -6 to earn top-five individual honors.

Hosted by Coastal Carolina University, the General Hackler Championship each year brings several of college golf’s top men’s teams to Myrtle Beach to battle at The Dunes Club’s renowned Robert Trent Jones layout. Beyond the aforementioned Louisville, Coastal Carolina, Furman, East Tennessee State and Chattanooga squads, the 2024 Hackler field also included College of Charleston, North Florida, San Francisco, Kent State, Little Rock, Liberty, UNC Wilmington, Western Carolina and Charleston Southern.
