Meet the Man Who Won Golf For a Year in Myrtle Beach

December 10, 2012

Scott Cleve won Golf for a Year in Myrtle BeachScott Cleve was in Las Vegas, recovering from the completion of his eighth marathon and enjoying a good run on the tables, when he received news that was almost to good to be true.

The Chicago resident opened an email informing him that he had won Golf For a Year in Myrtle Beach.

“Does this look legitimate to you?” Cleve asked his wife. “She said, ‘Yes, you should give them a call.’ … I was there to run and gamble, and what I got via email was the biggest prize of all.”

Cleve made the call and in 2013 he will enjoy the following:
– 12 monthly visits to Myrtle Beach, SC with each visit consisting of the following:
– 4 Rounds of Golf for Winner and a Guest
– 4 nights’ accommodations each month (double occupancy) (5 days, 4 nights)
–  Round trip air for winner and a guest from nearest non-stop flight market to and from Myrtle Beach
– Rental Car in Myrtle Beach
– 3 Dinners for 2

Additional Grand Prize Gifts include:
–  $2,000 shopping spree at the PGA Tour Superstore for Winner and a guest
–  Four 1/2 days golf instruction for winner and guest from one of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday’s member golf academies
– Entry and Accommodations for Winner and Guest into the 2013 Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship hosted in Myrtle Beach August 26 – August 30, 2013
– 12 Dozen Premium Golf Balls

What does Cleve’s wife think of him taking as many as 12 golf trips next year?

“She was ecstatic,” he said. “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

The 37-year-old, who plays 3-4 times per month, has been to Myrtle Beach several times and plans to bring his younger brother and a friend who has helped him with his game on the first two trips.

“It’s sort of shock and happiness,” Cleve said of his reaction to winning the prize. “One of the first things I told (my friends) was I wanted to share this experience. This prize and the time in Myrtle Beach is not all about my experience. Sharing it with others will make it a year to remember in golf.”

Cleve entered the Golf For a Year sweepstakes after perusing GolfHoliday.com researching possible golf packages.

“It took a minute of my time and look what happened,” he said.
