Myrtle Beach Golf Industry Rallies Behind Thursday’s “$18 for 18” Match to Benefit Project Golf

Recognizing the importance of Thursday’s “$18 for 18” celebrity promotional match at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club to benefit Project Golf, several major stakeholders in the Grand Strand golf market have stepped up to provide substantial financial support of an event involving World Golf Hall of Famers Sir Nick Faldo and Gary Player, along with music-world stars Charles Kelley of Lady A and Mark Bryan of Hootie & the Blowfish.

These contributions have been made not only to provide critically needed funds to support Project Golf’s charitable “grow the game” initiative, but to encourage support from among these donors’ constituencies. Among the event benefactors are:

Faldo, Player, Kelley and Bryan are teaming up Thursday to help raise money for Project Golf, an organization dedicated to growing the game through outreach to America’s military veterans, juniors and communities that have previously been underrepresented.

While competing, these celebrity participants will appear live on the Play Golf Myrtle Beach Facebook page throughout the day, encouraging viewers to donate through Project Golf’s “$18 for 18” drive, a grassroots fundraising effort that will allow the non-profit organization to turn small donations into big results.

The day’s festivities, which will be hosted by former PGA TOUR player and golf media star Charlie Rymer, will also be featured on a future episode of “The Charlie Rymer Golf Show,” a new 30-minute program that is televised nationally by CBS Sports Network on Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. ET.
