Myrtle Beach will be full of law enforcement personnel this week. No, there isn’t trouble of any type along the Grand Strand. Some of America’s finest are making the trek to Myrtle Beach for the same reason millions of other do – golf! For the 24th consecutive year, Myrtle Beach is hosting the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Golf Classic.
The event began today with 282 men and women from law enforcement agencies throughout the country participating in practice rounds at the Moorland and Heathland courses at Legends Resort. The 54-hole, stroke play tournament begins tomorrow with first-round action on each of the aforementioned courses, with second- and third-round action taking place Wednesday and Thursday at the Parkland course at Legends and Oyster Bay.
For the past 23 years Dan Morphet, owner of Golf The Carolinas, has run this annual and successful golf tournament supporting the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund in Washington, D.C. The Memorial Fund is dedicated to telling the story of American law enforcement through exhibits in the Memorial Museum, and honoring our fallen officers. The Memorial Fund helps maintain the Memorial Wall and Museum. Since its inception, the tournament has donated upwards of $750,000 to the Memorial.
The 2023 NLEOMGC has a goal of raising $40,000, with all proceeds going to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, a non-profit 501-C3 charity.
