North Florida Wins 2019 General Hackler Championship

The University of North Florida (-21) fought off a late surge by Wake Forest to capture the team title by five strokes Tuesday at the General Hackler Championship at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. Wake Forest’s Cameron Young (-12) took home the individual crown with a two-shot victory over Kentucky’s Lucas Euler.

The team victory was North Florida’s third in 11 appearances at the Hackler, and second since 2015 at The Dunes Club; they also won in 2012 when the event was held at DeBordieu Club in Georgetown. Four of their five starting golfers finished within the top 17, led by Travis Trace (-9, T3) and Jordan Batchelor (-4, T10).

For Young, his individual championship comes against a talented field that included eight of college golf’s top 100 players, most notably Georgia’s 6th-ranked Trent Phillips (-9, T3) and 15th-ranked Wake Forest teammate Eric Bae (-7, 6).
