Partner Profile: Saintnine America

Saintnine America is one of six lead sponsors of Play Golf Myrtle Beach Events that we’ll be spotlighting throughout 2021. PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com’s Charlie Rymer checks in with players at the recent Saintnine Shootout at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, asking for their thoughts on the event sponsor’s innovative golf ball product.

Charlie Rymer: (00:29)
So Jim, I talked to you yesterday, you hadn’t played with the Saintnine golf ball. The day I asked you about it, I said, “Hey, Jim, what do you think about the ball?” And you said?

Jim Ross: (00:38)
I love it. I mean, it gives me the same field as my higher-quality balls. And it actually goes a little farther. I love the feel of the club. I love the spin.

Charlie Rymer: (00:48)
Yeah. Talk to me a little bit about that spin, because I told you you’d like it around the greens and on the green. How’s it feel coming off a putter?

Jim Ross: (00:56)
It feels great. I love the feel off the putter. I haven’t hit a ball off a putter like that yet. I mean, this ball just sold me on putting anyway, and chipping. I even like it off the drivers. It seems like I’m getting about 15, 20 more yards off of it.

Charlie Rymer: (01:11)
Well, that’s pretty impressive. It’s short of hard to figure that you can hit a ball a little farther and have it feel softer at the same time.

Jim Ross: (01:17)
It is. It really is. But it surprised me. I love it. I mean, I felt confident in hitting it.

Charlie Rymer: (01:25)
What about out of the bunkers? Not that you hit it any bunkers.

Jim Ross: (01:28)
Oh, I did. I’m not going to lie: I did! I had two bunker shots. One of them, I come out normally. It released, it rolled a bit. Next time I got in the bunker, it was a little packed. I hit it. I thought, “Oh no, I just hit it too hard.” It hit the green and bit on me. So instead of a 25-foot putt, I had about a 10-foot putt.

Charlie Rymer: (01:46)
Did you make the putt?

Jim Ross: (01:48)
No!

Charlie Rymer: (01:49)
We can’t do everything for you!

Jim Ross: (01:51)
I can’t make every putt. It had more break than I thought.

Charlie Rymer: (01:54)
Oh, okay. You’ve been playing the Saintnine ball for a little while now. What are your thoughts on the golf ball?

Walter White: (02:00)
I really like it. It’s longer off the driver. To me, it’s also a little tamer. If you miss that driver, it doesn’t want to slice as much.

Charlie Rymer: (02:09)
Uh-huh (affirmative).

Walter White: (02:10)
Oh, it’s got good spin with it. One of my shots was about 50 yards with a 48 weight. You slap it up there as it stops.

Charlie Rymer: (02:18)
Yeah.

Walter White: (02:19)
It doesn’t take off on you. I enjoy playing it.

Charlie Rymer: (02:23)
Tell me about that feel of the golf ball on and around the greens.

Walter White: (02:27)
It’s soft. It feels really good coming off the putter. So it rolls good. The feel is really soft.

Charlie Rymer: (02:39)
Does it surprise you that a ball that feels that soft, you don’t lose any distance with it or maybe even pick up a little bit?

Walter White: (02:46)
Yeah. Yeah. That’s one of the first things that surprised me about it. I like a soft-feeling ball, but it didn’t cost me in the distance. I actually got a little more out of it and that’s helped me a lot. As I get older, I need all the help I can get.

Charlie Rymer: (03:02)
What do you think about the critters on the side of the golf ball?

Walter White: (03:06)
That’s different. And if you put your mind on it, they do work.

Charlie Rymer: (03:10)
Yeah.

Walter White: (03:11)
One of my favorites is the alligator.

Charlie Rymer: (03:14)
Yeah.

Walter White: (03:15)
He’s the focus symbol.

Charlie Rymer: (03:17)
Is that why you like him, because it makes you think “I need you to focus?”

Walter White: (03:20)
Yeah. Whenever I start messing up, me and him just have a conversation!
