LEADERBOARDS

Charles Cauthen (-3 on the day) led all A.C. Flora golfers in second-round play at Tradition, with Thomas Lamar (-1) and James Rhodes (E) posting strong Friday rounds as well. At 6-under for the tournament, A.C. Flora brings a 15-stroke overall lead over Chapin (S.C.) into Saturday’s final round.

Frederica Academy (Ga.) is in third place overall at 16-over par.

Among the Palmetto’s individual medalist contenders, Michael Gavin of Heritage Academy (S.C.) posted the day’s low round with a 7-under 65 at Tradition, bringing him within two shots of the individual lead currently held by first-round co-leader Chase Cline of Chapin (-9 after two rounds). CJ Peterson of North Raleigh Christian Academy (N.C.) and Casey Cosman of Dorman (S.C.) are tied for second overall at 8-under after two rounds.

The Palmetto is a 54-hole, collegiate-style tournament that has grown in demand and popularity to attract more than 40 teams each year from as many as 10 states and Canada, spanning the continent from the Carolinas to Texas to California. Past participants include such PGA TOUR stars as Rickie Fowler and Harris English, with this year’s field loaded with young talent that looks to someday join them at the highest level.

Final-round tee times are set for Saturday morning at all three host courses.
