Legends Golf & Resort has three championship-quality courses. The Heathland Course offers an experience built on playability, serenity, challenging design and unbeatable conditioning.

Designed by Tom Doak, Heathland offers classic Doak features including strategic bunker placement, open fairways and wild greens complexes. You get your first look at a wild Doak green on Hole No. 2. This quirky par 4 doglegs hard right, and a 240-yard tee shot should leave you with an unimpeded view of this crazy green.

The front nine at Heathland has a fantastic three-hole stretch with Nos. 5-7. Doak wants you to think when you step on the par-5 5th tee box. The center-line bunker sits right in the middle of where you’re tempted to hit your tee shot. The second and third shots into this hole are no pushover: narrowing up at around the 150-yard mark, you must keep your layup in the middle of the fairway. Straying too far left or right can block you out.

The most difficult hole on the course is the par-4 6th. Playing 468 yards from the tips, this hole demands your full attention. Avoid the deep bunker short right of the green, and make sure your second shot finds the correct part of this putting surface. The 7th hole is a wide-open par 5, but here the challenge comes around the green. Missing your approach right leaves you a tough pitch to this elevated green.

My favorite hole on the entire golf course has to be the short, par-4 15th. The proper play here is to take driver or 3 wood over the bunkers. This will leave a flip wedge, but longer players can easily knock it onto this green.

Water isn’t in play on many holes at Heathland, but one exception is the par-4 16th. A small creek leave a split fairway for golfers to gawk at from the tee. Avoid the deep, railroad-tie bunker if you want to make a four on this hole.

The 18th hole has my favorite set of bunkers at Heathland. From the fairway bunkers on each side to the deep greenside bunkers surrounding the green, it’s truly a great finishing hole.

Playability, challenge and spectacular conditions are what you can expect at the Heathland Course at Legends Golf & Resort. Experience it for yourself on your next Myrtle Beach golf trip!
