Golf courses throughout the Grand Strand are primed and ready to host a sold-out field of more than 300 players next week as they arrive for the kickoff event of the 2022 PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com tournament season, the Brittain Resorts Classic. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you can expect as the competitors tee it up:
9 Host Courses – Formerly the Preseason Classic, this event will be contested on popular designs from Brunswick County, North Carolina to Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The course lineup includes Aberdeen, Arrowhead, the Love Course at Barefoot Resort, Crown Park, Long Bay Club, River Club, Rivers Edge, Tradition Club and True Blue.
302 Competitors – The Brittain Resorts Classic is a two-person team event featuring 151 pairings in 2022, with players arriving from 28 states from coast to coast. With the Carolinas accounting for 40 percent of the field, other states leading the charge include Virginia with 25 entrants, followed by New York (21), Maryland (15), New Jersey (14), Georgia (11), Pennsylvania (10), and Florida (10).
3 Days, 3 Formats – The three-day tournament begins with Monday’s best ball format, with Tuesday’s round contest in modified alternate shot format and Wednesday’s final round played as a Texas scramble.
