Profiles of “The Q”: Nathan Franks & Micah Morris

In today’s video profiles of each of this year’s 16 competitors in The Q at Myrtle Beach we hear from a South Carolina Gamecock, Nathan Franks, on what it would be like for him to add a PGA TOUR start to his portfolio; and Micah Morris, back for a second time at The Q and looking for redemption. Check out their stories as this innovative event draws closer.

Play Golf Myrtle Beach and PGA TOUR Studios have partnered to present this one-of-a-kind competition for a spot to tee it up with the pros next month in the PGA TOUR’s 2025 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, May 8-11, 2025, at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club.

Featuring 16 players, including eight aspiring golf professionals and eight influential content creators, The Q at Myrtle Beach is an 18-hole, stroke-play competition that was played on March 3 at TPC Myrtle Beach. The winner will be revealed when the event airs on YouTube on May, 5, 2025, at 2 p.m. ET.

Nathan Franks:

Playing on a TOUR course changes your preparation because you know what you need to practice, the steps you need to take to get closer to becoming one of the best players in the world.

I grew up playing golf at Musgrove Mill Golf Club, which is in Clinton, South Carolina. I’ve always loved it. My dad started taking me out there before I could walk and started playing in tournaments when I was five.

When deciding where I wanted to go to college, I wanted to stay somewhat close to home. USC is only an hour and a half from home and one of the best conferences to play in the country.

A win on Monday would mean a chance to play at the highest level in a TOUR event against some of the best players in the world. It’d be really special and an awesome opportunity.

My name is Nathan Franks. My hometown is Roebuck, South Carolina. My home course is Musgrove Mill Golf Club, and hopefully I shoot anything around 68 or under on Monday.

Micah Morris:

Last year was really difficult for me. I ended up finishing last place. It was kind of just a mental explosion after the first couple holes. So this year, I’m really focused on just how I present myself on the golf course and making sure that I have my emotions, my attitude in check, be patient and have a lot of fun.

I didn’t start playing till later in high school, so I was like 17 years old when I got my first set of clubs. I started playing golf in my pasture. We grew up on a farm, and so I literally, I turned my pasture into a driving range and I would hit balls from one end, go to the other end and gather them up, and then hit them back, and I would just do that back and forth. That’s how I started.

The fact that we’re basically playing a Monday qualifier with 16 guys is really special. As of right now, there’s not really anything like it. One of the 16 of us is going to have a pretty life-changing opportunity because of The Q.

Hey, I’m Micah Morris. I’m from Mobile, Alabama, and my home course is Magnolia Grove. And tomorrow I hope to shoot anywhere from 2 to 4 under par.
