Rymer’s Reasons: TPC Myrtle Beach

In this episode, PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com’s Charlie Rymer explores one of the Grand Strand’s premier options for including in your next golf getaway: the Tom Fazio-designed TPC Myrtle Beach, home to a classic risk-reward finishing hole.

One of the things I like about Myrtle Beach is the 18th hole at TPC Myrtle Beach. This is a really cool risk-reward par 5r designed by Tom Fazio and Lanny Wadkins. At 515 yards, if you hit a good tee ball, sort of like that, you’ve got a great chance to finish your day with a birdie or maybe even an eagle.

A lot of us experts will tell you that after hitting a big drive, you’ve got to play conservative. You have to be smart. I’m not selling that. I’ve got about 225 yards here. Check this out. I got sand right, water short, water left, a flag stick over on the left-hand side. If I pull this off, I’ve created myself a heck of a memory. Sometimes you’ve just got to go for it!

I’m on this 18th hole here at TPC Myrtle Beach in two. Got about 40 feet for eagle. Nothing makes me more mad than leaving an eagle putt short. But you never know when you’re going to get your last eagle putt. So let’s see if we can give this one a good opportunity here.

That’s not so bad. I’m Charlie Rymer, here in my hometown of Myrtle Beach. We’ve got something for everybody!
