As golfers prepare for their Second Season golf getaway to the Grand Strand this fall, Myrtle Beach-area courses are primed and ready for visitors. Our “eye in the sky” saw great conditions at courses along the Highway 9 corridor including Diamondback at Woodland Valley, Crown Park and Aberdeen.

We took Charlie Rymer over to the Moorland Course at Legends Golf Resort to hang out with PGA Head Professional Matt Biddington. “The Big Timer” got a dose of Matt’s long game off the tee as they played No. 3. We think they had a pretty good time.

As we head into Golf’s Second Season, courses throughout the Grand Strand have already rounded into peak form in anticipation of its fall visitors. Today, our camera caught these scenes at the Arthur Hills-designed PineHills Course at Myrtlewood Golf Club.

All but seven Myrtle Beach-area golf courses have now resumed operations since Hurricane Dorian swept by the Southeast region late last week, with the entire market expected to be at full operating capacity by mid-week.

Thirty NCAA Division I college golf teams began play today in both the men’s and women’s championships of the 2019 Golfweek Program Challenge at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club.

Most Myrtle Beach-area courses were preparing to resume play this weekend as Hurricane Dorian moved on, with minimal overall impact left on the Grand Strand golf scene. We visited three such courses resuming play on Sept. 7 as sunny skies and warm temperatures greeted golfers at World Tour Golf Links, The Wizard and Man O’War.

As Hurricane Dorian continued moving past the Carolinas Friday, the Myrtle Beach golf community was already busy with short-term cleanup efforts that will see two-thirds of its courses along the Grand Strand re-open this weekend.

The Myrtle Beach Patriots, a group of philanthropic Grand Strand golf professionals who engaged in weekend-long fundraising activities to benefit Folds of Honor, capped their 2019 efforts by completing a 100-hole golf marathon on Sunday, Sept. 1 at Long Bay Golf Club. The group raised more than $130,000 for the cause.
