While we know True Blue Golf Club presents its share of challenges that only a one-of-a-kind course designer like Mike Strantz can deliver, don’t let it be said that it lacks scoring opportunities. Enter Eltoria Renwick, PGA, True Blue’s head golf professional, to offer his insights on three holes in particular that fit the bill.

Hole 3 – “This unique island green stands out from the course’s typical links-style feel,” says Renwick. “Club selection is essential here. For front pin placements, the green slopes toward a wraparound bunker; a high, soft tee shot is necessary to hold the green. For back pin placements, aim for the top of the right-to-left slope to allow the ball to feed toward the hole for an easy birdie putt. Hole 3 is not an easy birdie hole, but making a birdie here feels awesome.”

Hole 4 – “This par 5 offers an excellent birdie opportunity depending on how risky you want to be off the tee. The goal is to favor the left side of the fairway, which sets up a second shot of 200–220 yards. While playing left brings water into play and requires a challenging carry to the green, the reward is a potential eagle putt.”

Hole 9 – “Another reachable par 5, its 530-yard dogleg right can be shortened with a precise drive that cuts the corner. A well-placed tee shot leaves a second shot of 180–220 yards. This shot typically plays a half-club longer; ensure you take enough club, as anything short lands in a deep-faced bunker that makes getting up and down difficult.”
