Charlie Rymer, Maginnes On Tap Radio Show Among Early Commitments to 33rd Annual World Am

May 13, 2016

Charlie Rymer and Brian Katrek will be among the celebrities at the World AmTelevision star Charlie Rymer, a long-time friend of the event, headlines the list of early 19th Hole commitments, and he will be joined John Maginnes and Brian Katrek, the hosts of Sirius/XM Radio’s popular Maginnes on Tap show.

Rymer, who has grown from being a host of Big Break into one of Golf Channel’s most prominent personalities, will again emcee the 19th Hole festivities, regaling World Am players with tales from behind the scenes at the Golf Channel and during his time on the PGA Tour.

A folksy disposition has made Rymer one of Golf Channel’s most popular personalities and endeared him to World Am players. The Morning Drive co-host routinely mingles around the 19th Hole, signing autographs and taking pictures.

For the third consecutive year, the Maginnes on Tap show will originate from the 19th Hole. Hosted by former PGA Tour player John Maginnes and Brian Katrek, one of the game’s most trusted voices, Maginnes on Tap will broadcast live from main stage each night.

Maginnes and Katrkek, have always been generous with their time as well, signing autographs and sharing stories with World Am players after their show goes off the air.

A four-time winner on what is now the Web.com Tour, Maginnes combines keen insight into the game at the professional level and an irreverent sense of humor to entertain listeners and World Am players.

An Emmy award-winning broadcaster, Katrek has hosted television, interactive, and radio play by play coverage of golf tournaments since 1999, including all four majors and the Ryder Cup. Katrek is an accomplished amateur player as well and will play in the World Am’s scratch division again this year.

The 33rd annual World Am will be played August 29 through September 2, and the early entry registration fee of $525 runs through May 19.

A 72-hole, net stroke play event, the World Am is expected to attract more than 3,000 players from all 50 states and more than 30 countries. Golf’s most respected and rigorously enforced handicap system levels the playing field, giving all players a chance to win.

Players are flighted based on gender, age and handicap. After four rounds of competition, all flight winners and ties will advance to the World Championship Playoff.

The fun of the World Am doesn’t end with the final putt. Each night participants and a guest gather at the World’s Largest 19th Hole, which encompasses 120,000 square feet of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, for free food and drinks, live entertainment and an expansive golf expo.
