Checking In with Arcadian Shores’ Frank Coughlin

We recently caught up with Arcadian Shores’ PGA General Manager, Frank Coughlin, for an update on course conditions and the many recent upgrades performed on this popular Rees Jones design.

My name’s Frank Coughlin. I’m the PGA general manager here at Arcadian Shores. The course opened in 1974, and it’s a Rees Jones design that’s also Rees Jones’ first solo design. Rees Jones is known as “The Open Doctor” (for his work in revitalizing golf courses for major championships like the U.S. Open).

In the winter of 2017 we put in new irrigation. Then we shut down in May (2018) and we put in new greens, built a new clubhouse, provide a lot more food and beverage items, TVs for watching sporting events. It’s nice to be in a new, upgraded facility. While we were shut down, we also renovated our cart paths, put in new cart paths, and renovated both on-course bathrooms.

So the next time you’re in Myrtle Beach, we’d love to have you out here at Arcadian Shores on a beautiful day like today. Just come and have something to eat, come hit some balls, come out here and play with us!
